My friend's dad was an avid Rolex collector and taught me a really thrifty way to save thousands of dollars on jewelry. Want to learn how to save on an engagement ring or any jewelry? It's simple and easy!

Thrifty Tip:  Buy jewelry in a different state and have it mailed home. You won't have to pay any sales tax on the purchase.

When I proposed to Mrs. TT I saved almost $1,000 by purchasing her engagement ring in another state and mailing it home. Sales made to out of state customers are typically exempt from sales tax (state rules vary). The jewelry store you are purchasing from must also not have a brick and mortar location in your home state, that is the only way to get around the tax.

Give it a try! Purchasing an engagement ring in another state is no different than making a purchase online from another state (no tax). Engagement rings are expensive the way it is and trust me you're going to need that extra cash for the wedding!
