Straight to the point – The Chase Sapphire Reserve is one of the best travel credit cards on the market, and you get 50k bonus points to start.

Since its launch in 2016, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card has arguably been considered one of the best travel reward cards ever. While the card boasts an annual fee of $450 (cheap considering the $300 travel credit and other benefits), it currently offers 50,000 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points (URs) after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of card membership.

Benefits Of The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card

Sign Up Bonus of 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points: After you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. That is $750 toward travel when you redeem the points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. You can actually buy flight deals with the points! Ultimate Rewards points are some of the most valuable currencies in the points world. You can transfer these points to a number of partners, to easily find even more value.

$300 Annual Travel Credit: This is the big one, and how we justify the annual fee. Every 12 months, Chase reimburses you for any purchases that code as travel. Whether that is a taxi, uber, hotel, airline ticket, etc. This is $300 right back in your pocket, reducing the cost of the annual fee down to $150.

Redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards Points For 1.5 Cents Per Point:  One of the best benefits of this card – Get 50% more value when you redeem your points for airfare, hotels, car rentals, etc. through Chase Ultimate Rewards. The 50,000 point sign-up bonus is worth $750 toward travel. Again, we recommend booking flight deals with the points.

3X Points On Travel And Restaurants Worldwide: You will earn 3X points on all travel and restaurant dining purchases and 1 point per dollar on all other spending. There are also no foreign transaction fees.

$100 Application Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓: If you apply for either Global Entry or TSA Pre✓ and pay with the Sapphire Reserve card, the application cost will be reimbursed ($100 for Global Entry and $85 for TSA Pre✓). You are eligible to receive this credit once every four years.

Complimentary Priority Pass Select membership: Receive complimentary Priority Pass select membership which gets you free access to over 1,000 airport lounges around the world, including hundreds across North and South America. You are also able to bring in an unlimited amount of guests into the lounges with you. You can even access a number of restaurants with Priority Pass membership. This is one of my favorite benefits of the Reserve card.

Primary Car Rental Insurance: When you charge your car rental to the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you are able to decline the insurance from the rental company and be covered up to $75,000 for theft and/or collision damage.

Roadside Assistance: Receive 24-hour towing assistance (up to $50), 24-hour lockout assistance (up to $50), up to two gallons of fuel delivery and flat tire changing service all included with your card membership. This has replaced my AAA membership.

Lost luggage reimbursement — If your checked or carry-on baggage is damaged or lost by the airline, you’ll be covered up to $3,000 per passenger.

Visa Infinite Concierge Service: Receive access to a dedicated line that can help you track down reservations at restaurants, purchase tickets on your behalf or even buy flowers for a significant other.

Bottom Line

The Chase Sapphire Reserve has been at the front of my wallet since I picked it up last year, and it’s what I use for all my travel and dining expenses (3x earning). The card is subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule so you will need to consider this before applying.

Also, if you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you can only earn a bonus from the Sapphire family of cards every 24 months. The rules can be confusing but this card is definitely one you want in your wallet. Click Here to get more information about this card.

Not joking…Chase Sapphire Reserve changed my life!

Key to highlight that redeeming Travel/Dining points for travel through the Chase Portal gets you 4.5% cash value for points guaranteed. You’re not going to find a better deal.
