Got a stash of transferable points from banks like American Express, Capital One, or Chase? Take advantage of these current transfer bonuses to get even more out of them.
Think of transfer bonuses as a way to get free miles. The big banks routinely roll out bonuses of 10% to as much as 40% – and sometimes even more! – when transferring points to select airline or hotel partners. With a 25% transfer bonus, for example, you'd only need to transfer 40,000 points to get the 50,000 miles you may need to book an award ticket.
Here are all the current transfer bonuses available as of publication, broken down bank by bank.

Wondering why you should transfer your points? Read up on how it can help you book flights for less!
But before you rush to send your points somewhere with a bonus, remember: These transfers are a one-way street. Once you send the points to an airline partner, you cannot get them back to your Capital One, Chase, or other credit card account. That means you'll generally want to have a redemption in mind (and make sure the flights or hotels you want are actually available to book) before transferring your points.
Let's take a closer look at each of the current transfer bonuses and how you may (or may not) want to use them.
20% Bonus from Amex to Air France/KLM Flying Blue
American Express is currently offering a 20% transfer bonus to Air France/KLM Flying Blue through Oct. 31, 2025. That means every 1,000 Amex Membership Rewards points you transfer gets you 1,200 Flying Blue miles.
Flying Blue is one of the best programs for booking flights to Europe, with monthly Promo Rewards that can drop transatlantic economy flights to under 15,000 miles each way – and business class for 39,750 miles during promos. With this bonus, you could book one-way business class flights to Europe from just 32,000 Amex points!
Even after Flying Blue raised award rates earlier this year, you can still find business class flights to Europe for as low as 60,000 miles each way – a relatively mild increase from the previous 50,000-mile price point. You'll find this price whether you want to get to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), or connect almost anywhere in Europe.
Keep in mind: Flying Blue passes along sizable taxes and fees: Usually under $300 for a roundtrip in economy but more than $250 for a one-way in business class to Europe.

30% Bonus from Capital One to Japan Airlines
Capital One just added three new transfer partners: Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, and I Prefer Hotel Rewards. But the real headline is the launch of Japan Airlines with a transfer bonus.
Capital One miles transfer will usually transfer at a 2:1.5 ratio, meaning every 1,000 Capital One miles you send to JAL will result in 750 Mileage Bank miles. But through Oct. 22, 2025, you’ll get a 30% transfer bonus to Japan Airlines. The math is a little messy: For every 1,000 Capital One miles, you’ll get 975 JAL miles. That works out to nearly a 1:1 transfer rate – just multiply the JAL miles you need by 1.0256 to figure out how many Capital One miles to send.
These days, everyone wants to go to Japan … and for good reason. It's clean, safe, modern (yet steeped in culture), and don't even get me started on the food.
Flying Japan Airlines from one of the carrier's nine North American gateways to Tokyo Haneda (HND) or Narita (NRT) – or even Osaka (KIX) – is a great way to cross the Pacific, no matter if you're flying in economy or business class. Thanks to JAL's reasonable award chart, a one-way ticket to Japan will set you back 27,000 miles in economy, 40,000 miles in premium economy, or as low as 55,000 miles in business class. That's even better than what American AAdvantage charges!
The only problem? It's been practically impossible for U.S. travelers to actually earn JAL miles. That changed a little when Bilt added JAL as a 1:1 transfer partner earlier this year, but now with Capital One entering the fold, there's never been a better time to familiarize yourself with JAL Mileage Bank to start taking advantage of this new sweet spot.
Take this flight from Chicago-O'Hare (ORD) to Tokyo-Haneda (HND) for example. You can book a Japan Airlines business class seat on the nearly 13-hour flight to Japan for just 55,000 miles – just 56,500 Capital One miles with the current transfer bonus – and $142 in taxes and fees.

30% Bonus from Chase to British Airways, Iberia & Aer Lingus
Chase rolled out a brand new 30% transfer bonus when sending Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus, which is available through Oct. 31. The three carriers are all owned by the same massive airline conglomerate, and all three use Avios as their mileage currency. And considering you can combine Avios between a growing number of airlines – including kicking them over to Qatar Airways or Finnair – there are even more ways to put this transfer bonus to use.
It can unlock one of the cheapest ways to fly to Hawaii using points and miles (still), in addition to some other cheap domestic award tickets. You can use it to fly to Europe and back for just 29,000 points – or do it in business class for 57,000 points. And thanks to some changes with British Airways' Avios, it's the best and cheapest way you'll find to score a ride in Qatar Airways Qsuites right now.

Up to 40% More Avios on Citi Transfers to Qatar
Right now, you can transfer Citi points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club through Oct. 15 and receive up to a 40% bonus. Just know, you won't see this bonus when you log into your Citi account: It's processed after the fact on Qatar's end and depends on how many points you transfer. Here's how it breaks down:
- 20% bonus: Less than 10,000 points
- 30% bonus: 10,000 to 49,999 points
- 40% bonus: 50,000 points or more
For example, if you send over 25,000 ThankYou points from your Citi account, Qatar's Privilege Club will separately kick in 7,500 more Avios. But if you transfer 50,000 ThankYou points, you'll get an extra 20,000 Avios, thanks to the increased bonus.
No matter how many points you transfer, getting to 20% to 40% more is a suite sweet deal. Why is that?
Because Qatar Avios have quickly become the best way to book the airline's outstanding Qsuites business class seats. By utilizing this transfer bonus, you'd only need to transfer 50,000 Citi ThankYou points to Qatar to book a one-way ticket from the U.S. all the way to Doha. And trust us: It's worth every single point.
Since you can combine Avios across all the different types of accounts that earn and use them, this bonus can also be useful for those looking to book awards with British Airways or even help you snag cheap Iberia business class seats to Europe.
Up to 50% Bonus on Citi Transfers to Avianca, Turkish & Virgin
Transfer bonuses are a great way to get even more value from your credit card points – and if you've got Citi ThankYou points from a card like the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card and the new Citi Strata Elite℠ Card there's a new bonus to help you do just that.
You can currently get up to 50% more points when transferring ThankYou points to a trio of airlines. Exactly how big a bonus you'll get depends on the airline: 25% to Avianca LifeMiles, 50% to Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles, and 30% to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
Each of these transfer bonuses ends on Oct. 18 at 11:59 p.m. ET!
Taking advantage of any of these bonuses can make sense with various sweet spots in each program. We typically see Citi roll out a handful of transfer bonuses to various travel partners each year, but it's quite rare to see three big bonuses all at once.
Even after a recent devaluation, Avianca is one of the best programs for booking business class flights to Europe for less. Turkish is a great option for getting to Istanbul (and beyond … way beyond), but it can also be useful for booking domestic flights on United Airlines. Meanwhile, Virgin is a solid choice for short Delta flights and even long-haul business class trips to England … albeit with higher fees.
Just know, you should (almost) never transfer credit card points without a specific use in mind. This is a one-way street: Once you send your credit card points to an airline account, you can't get them back. That means you'll want to have a purpose for these points before you send them to Air France or any one of Citi's other travel partners.
Fortunately, there are some great ways to put this bonus to use…

Bottom Line
Transfer bonuses can be a great way to get more value from your points and help you realize your dream vacation even sooner. These bonuses are constantly coming and going, so it's important to stay up-to-date on the current promotions before moving your points to ensure you're not leaving any free points on the table.
But it's always best to keep your points flexible until you're ready to book. Due to constant loyalty program devaluations, transferring points without an immediate plan to use them will rarely be a good option.
Please advise when they are any good transfer bonus from Chase!
Hi we’ve accumulated a lot of Capital One Venture points over the years. Are they transferable or should I have the Venture X or Amex or other cards instead? Ty!
They are also transferrable – identical, in fact, to the Venture X. Capital One just isn’t quite as generous with transfer bonuses as other banks, which is why you don’t see them in this story. Here’s our guide on Capital One transfer partners.
Flying Blue charges as LITTLE as 50k for biz to Europe. Redemptions increase significantly from that amount.
Thanks for sharing! I didn’t realize my Citi card was ineligible for points transfer until I read “To take advantage of this bonus you’ll first need to have a card that earns transferable ThankYou points like the Citi Premier® Card.” So although I am disappointed to not have flexible use of those ThankYou points, now I know to spend instead on my more flexible cards!
Hi! This is super helpful, thank you! Quick question – do you simply need to transfer the points from the card to the hotel or airline stated above by the deadline/deal expiration, or do you need to actually travel between the transfer bonus announcement and their expiration date? Thank you!
Hi Amy. You just need to transfer them. No requirement to use them by the expiration date for the transfer bonus.
