Dreaming of sitting on the beach in Maui this winter? Getting to Hawaii doesn't get much cheaper than this – and Delta SkyMiles flash sales don't get much better, either.

You can get from many cities in the U.S. to Maui (OGG) and back starting at just 18,000 SkyMiles roundtrip this fall and winter – with great availability at these low rates in January and February. That's less than most roundtrip domestic flights to Las Vegas or Chicago these days!

We sent this deal to our Thrifty Traveler Premium members earlier this week, but there are still some great deals up for grabs whether you live in California, Seattle (SEA), or even Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP). You'll generally find the cheapest rates on the nonstop flights from Los Angeles (LAX), but there are big savings elsewhere.

Travel to Hawaii is in full-swing and back to the pre-pandemic norm – any testing or vaccination requirements for entry are long gone. We've seen a slew of cheap flights to Hawaii paying cash lately, but this deal takes the cake.

Getting to Maui for just 18,000 SkyMiles roundtrip is tough to beat – it's among the cheapest ways to get to Hawaii on points and miles, period. Consider this: American Airlines is charging 40,000 miles (or more) roundtrip on these same routes.

And while Los Angeles (LAX) and other California airports like San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK), and San Diego (SAN) benefit from the lowest rates with this SkyMiles deal to Maui, there are still stellar deals elsewhere. Keep reading for a full list of available departure cities!

For example, you can book roundtrip flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Maui for just 27,000 SkyMiles. That's still half (or less!) what Delta typically charges on this route!

Thrifty Traveler Premium is the only flight deal alert service that sends award space alerts like these, plus cheap cash fares too!

No matter where you're flying from, the lowest rates are Delta basic economy fares. Delta began selling these no-frills fares even when using SkyMiles a few years ago, even on long flights to Hawaii. If you want to pick your seat or be able to cancel and get your miles back for free, you can typically upgrade to a main cabin fare for another 5,000 to 8,000 SkyMiles.

Need SkyMiles to book this deal? If you've got some American Express Membership Rewards points from cards like The Platinum Card® from American Express or the American Express® Gold Card, you're in luck: Delta is an Amex transfer partner, which means you can instantly transfer 20,000 to 30,000 points (or less) to your Delta account to get all the miles you need.

Thrifty Tip: Make sure to use Delta’s “Price Calendar” feature when searching for award rates to find the best deals.

    • It’s a bit unpredictable, unfortunately. The safest bet would be to book quickly as there’s no way to know for sure how long these rates will stick around.
