The Thrifty Traveler team went on some amazing trips in 2019, for work and pleasure.

Mr. TT and I traveled around the world from Jordan and Lebanon in the Middle East, to Normandy, France, Greece, the Maldives, and more. Other members of the Thrifty Traveler team flew around the world in six days, went to Muscat, Oman, spent 24 hours in Singapore, and glamped in Colorado. We all went on an amazing team trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Combined, we flew more than 400,000 miles in 2019 – with some amazing points redemptions in that mix. Seeing the world for less is what we are all about, but we know it takes an environmental toll.

We made it a top priority to offset the carbon emissions from all of our team's work and personal flights. And in 2019, we put our money where our mouth is.

Thrifty Tip: Sign up for our Premium international flight deal service and we'll plant a tree!

Offsetting Our Travel

We calculated our carbon footprint from each flight we took and donated to the National Forest Foundation to help plant trees in forests around the country. Each dollar we donate goes to plant one tree. We also helped plant trees locally in Minnesota with Tree Trust and planted trees in Northern Minnesota.

With our donations, we helped the National Forest Foundation plant over 1,100 trees to offset our own travel. Add in the number of trees we planted on behalf of Thrifty Traveler Premium members, and that number is even higher.

We also planted 450 trees right here in Minnesota.

Bottom Line

Thrifty Traveler is committed to offsetting the carbon emissions from our flights in 2019, 2020, and beyond. As important as it is to travel and see the world, it's equally important to make sure these destinations are accessible to future travelers.

In our minds, that's part of being responsible travelers – and a responsible travel company.
