After a major update (and yet another annual fee increase), the laundry list of credits on *amex platinum* is longer than ever. There's hundreds of dollars to save on luxury hotels, dining, airport security services, fitness gear, and more – all on different schedules that might expire monthly, quarterly, or once or twice a year.
It's up to you to use them all and recoup that hefty annual fee … or lose them. We're here to help.
We put together a handy spreadsheet to track all things on your Amex Platinum Card in one place. Best of all, it's completely free to download and use!

With an annual fee of $895 (see rates & fees), getting organized is more important than ever. This spreadsheet makes that easy: Just mark each credit as you're done throughout each year! Plus, there are a handful of neat features you won't find in other tools, including:
- You'll get a clear warning as each credit is approaching its expiration date! Unused credits will turn orange when they're set to expire within the next 30 days – or red when you've got just two weeks to put them to use before they disappear.
- The spreadsheet will automatically tally up the total value you've gotten as you mark each credit as used and turn green at the top once you've recouped your entire annual fee.
- You can even adjust the value of each credit if they're not worth the sticker price to you. For example, I don't value a CLEAR® Plus subscription at anywhere near the full $209 – I'll probably mark that closer to $100, maybe even less.
Is it a bit ridiculous that it practically requires a spreadsheet like this to get the most out of a travel credit card? It sure is. But here we are.
We've called out Amex for the over-the-top “Extreme Couponing” mentality that has spread to more and more of its travel credit cards … to no avail. This latest Platinum Card update proves once and for all that it's here to stay.
We might not be able to get Amex to change their ways – but at least we can help you out a little bit.
Bottom Line
The latest changes to the Platinum Card make it more important than ever to get organized and track the ever-growing list of money-saving credits to ensure you're getting what you're paying (even more) for. That's what we built this new – and free! – spreadsheet for.

AMAZING!! Please please please make these for the Biz Platinum and CSR personal/biz cards!
This was my very first podcast of anything (does that even seem possible). I thought I knew all there was about credit cards and maximizing points, but I have learned a ton today. Nick, I believe, mentioned setting ChatGPT to help him optimize his credit card usage and I have more than 15 cards so would LOVE to capture this information. Is there a link or is this a service you offer?
Here ya go! And thanks for tuning in.

The Excel tracker is amazing! Thanks a lot. Do you have similar files for the Amex Business Card and any other cards?
Stay tuned!
How about one for the Platinum Business Card?
Stay tuned!
The formula for the total credits used doesn’t appear to be working. Is stuck on $0 even after entering credits that have been used. Not sure how to fix it?
Appears to be working just fine on our end! Let us know if you keep having issues and/or send me an email and I can dig in a bit deeper.
The formula for calculating the amount saved for the E9 is not completely correct. It doesn’t continue all the way to the bottom. I just downloaded this and the code was set to “=SUMIF(E16:E60,”True”,D16:D60)”. This means it stops calculating at the December line of the entertainment credit. However, to include all the lines thru the gym credit it should be defaulted to “=SUMIF(E16:E77,”True”,D16:D77)”.
Thank you! We’ve now fixed this on both the Google Sheet and Excel downloadable versions!
On the 2026 tab, you need to update the entertainment credit amount for January thru August (D51-D58) from $20 to $25.
Good catch, that is fixed!
This looks great, though is there a way to adjust it to be more applicable with a term start date that’s not January 1 / a clean calendar year? Since I got my card this summer, and the spreadsheet has benefits split between tabs, determining the true value becomes a bit more complicated.
I feel it could be simpler if everything was simply on one tab as the user could then simply reset the spreadsheet once their term’s year is up.
Very valid point. The main issue is that all of these credits are based upon the calendar year, not the cardmember year based on when you opened the card. If you’d rather, you could simply use the 2026 tab as your starting point and simply cross out any credits that had already lapsed by the time you opened it. Then start fresh for 2026?
THANK YOU!! This is fantastic!! Out of all the spreadsheets I’ve tried to adopt, this one is by far the BEST and easiest to use!! I’ll be on the lookout for the CSR spreadsheet.
Do you have one of these for the Amex Gold Card, too?
Stay tuned…
This is awesome!!! Can you please also create one for the CSR including the new benefits with the recent refresh?
Thank you SO much!!
It’s on our to-do list – stay tuned!
That’s amazing, thank you so much!
2 comments/questions:
1. Your “Total Credits Used” cell is using the formula =sumif(E16:E60,”True”,D16:D60) when it should go all the way down to row 77
2. Any chance you’ll do that with the update Chase Sapphire Reserve?
Thank you – that is fixed!
And yes, it’s on our to-do list!
