You already know and love the Platinum Card® from American Express. Meet its cousin – for small business owners.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express has many of the same great benefits. And while it requires a lot of spending in the first three months of card membership, it can reward you with 100,000 American Express Membership Rewards points after you spend $15,000 in the first 3 months.

So if you have a small business and can manage this kind of spending, it is a fantastic way to earn a ton of points with one of our favorite small business cards.

The card offers a host of premium benefits like airport lounge access, a credit for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, up to $200 of annual credit to be used at dell.com, and one of our favorite benefits of any travel rewards credit card. Read on for a full list of benefits.

Benefits of the Business Platinum Card From American Express

Welcome Offer: Earn 100,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $15,000 within the first three months of card membership.

5x Membership Rewards points on flights and hotels booked through amextravel.com.

1.5x Membership Rewards points on all eligible purchases of $5,000 or more.

$200 Airline Fee Credit: Receive up to $200 per calendar year for airline incidental fees at one airline. Read up on the best ways to take advantage of this credit.

Lounge Access: Receive access to Amex Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta), Escape Lounges, and membership in the Priority Pass Select program. This card is widely considered the best credit card for airport lounge access. You will receive all of the same access offered by the personal Platinum card from American Express.

$100 Application Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: If you apply for either Global Entry or TSA PreCheck and pay with the Amex Business Platinum Card, the application cost will be reimbursed ($100 for Global Entry and $85 for TSA PreCheck). You are eligible to receive this credit once every four years, and membership in either program is good for five years.

35% Points Rebate: Receive a 35% rebate on flight redemptions on your selected airline. This is my favorite benefit the card offers. Read more about this lucrative perk.

$200 in Annual Statement Credits at Dell: Receive up to $200 in statement credits annually by getting $100 twice a year for U.S. purchases with Dell. Dell sells a lot more than just computers and I have found this credit to be incredibly valuable.

Hotel Status: The Platinum card offers complimentary Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors Gold status just for being a card member. And with Hilton, that entitles you to free breakfast at almost any Hilton hotel in the world.

Access to the Platinum Concierge: Receive around-the-clock assistance with travel planning and booking, shopping advice and other personal requests.

Annual Fee: The business version of the card boasts an annual fee of $595 which is not waived for the first year of card membership (see rates & fees)

Our Analysis

The 35% rebate on redemptions for your selected airline is my favorite benefit the card offers as it really allows you to stretch the value of your Membership Rewards points; especially if you often travel with the same airline.

If you are a regular business traveler, this card offers airport lounge access that is unmatched by any other card. This is one of the best ways we know of to drastically improve your travel experience and reducing your costs inside the airport.

Additionally, the $200 Dell credit is a nice benefit and it isn’t hard to take advantage of. Dell sells lots of products outside of the Dell brand that should be of interest to travelers.

And last but not least, there’s the 100,000-point welcome bonus. American Express Membership Rewards points are some of the most valuable points in travel.

Bottom Line

It’s a card geared toward business owners and the spending requirement is relatively large, so this card isn’t for everyone. But if your business can easily spend this kind of cash, the offer is excellent.

I love the Business Platinum card for the unique benefits it provides. Few cards will improve your travels more than the Platinum Card from American Express will.
