Rove might not be a household name, but it's getting there: The startup pitches itself as the first “universal airline mile” – a somewhat dubious claim – letting travelers earn rewards without opening a travel credit card, then redeem those miles for flights, hotels, or transfer them to a growing list of airline and hotel partners. That list of transfer partners just keeps getting bigger.

Effective Thursday, Air Canada Aeroplan is joining its roster of transfer partners at a 1:1 ratio. And to celebrate, Rove is offering a 25% transfer bonus on all transfers to Aeroplan through June 6, 2026.

The addition of Air Canada Aeroplan isn't exactly unique – Air Canada already partners with banks like American Express, Capital One, and Chase. But it's still welcome news considering Aeroplan is one of the best mileage programs on the planet – and not just to fly Air Canada. Thanks to Aeroplan's 50-plus airline partners, you can use their miles to get nearly anywhere around the globe.

Until lately, Rove’s transfer partner list was somewhat niche … but the program has already added four (mostly) standout partners so far this year: JAL Mileage Bank, SAS EuroBonus, Virgin Atlantic, and Virgin Red, quickly solidifying itself as a bona fide player in the points-and-miles world.

A Quick Primer on Rove Miles

Think of Rove as a kind of hybrid between an online travel agency and shopping portal.

Travelers can earn Rove miles by booking flights and hotels through its platform – including “Loyalty Eligible” hotel bookings that still earn points and elite credit with major chains – or by clicking through its shopping portal (and browser extension) at more than 13,000 retailers.

You can then turn around and redeem those miles directly for travel through Rove or transfer them to partner loyalty programs. With the addition of Air Canada Aeroplan, Rove now has 18 transfer partners – all at a 1:1 ratio.

“Adding Aeroplan gives our members access to one of the most valuable and flexible airline loyalty programs in the world,” said Max Morganroth, CEO and co-founder of Rove. “With strong global partner access and compelling redemption opportunities, this partnership makes it easier than ever for Rove members to turn everyday spending into exceptional travel experiences.”

The big problem with Rove for anyone just getting started is earning enough miles (quickly) to actually use this transfer bonus.

If you're booking travel through Rove, you can generally expect your miles to post after you complete your flight or check out of a hotel (the wait is longer for “loyalty eligible” hotel bookings). However, if you book a non-refundable hotel rate – and I'm by no means encouraging this just for the sake of earning miles – you'll receive your miles immediately.

Miles earned through Rove's shopping portal generally take 30-100 days to post.

All that said, this development should be enough incentive to put Rove on your radar and get started earning miles for the future.

Best Ways to Redeem Air Canada Aeroplan Points

We could go on and on about all the great ways to use Aeroplan points and maximize this new transfer partner … and bonus.

It's one of the most powerful and versatile airline programs in the world, allowing you to book flights on dozens of Star Alliance partners as well as a growing array of other partner airlines, including Etihad, Oman Air, Gulf Air, and many more. Plus, you can add stopovers to almost any award ticket for just 5,000 additional points.

Aeroplan also shines for family travelers, as adding a lap infant to an award ticket costs just 2,500 or a low cash fee.

But it's not all great news: Aeroplan is raising some award rates effective June 1. We hate to see devaluations like this, but this one is relatively mild and at least Aeroplan gave travelers more than month's heads up – plus, a few redemptions will actually go down.

With all that out of the way, let's take a look at some of the best ways to use Aeroplan miles. This list could be much longer, but here are a few sweet spots that get even sweeter thanks to this 25% transfer bonus.

Roundtrip Flights to Hawaii for 25K Points

Most airline award charts treat Hawaii separately from the mainland. Not Aeroplan. And that opens a massive sweet spot.

Still, because Aeroplan uses a distance-based pricing model, you'll want to start from the West Coast, where flights are shorter. So your best bet is looking for flights from Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO) flying United Airlines, where you can book a one-way flight for just 15,000 miles in economy – roughly half of what United itself would normally charge.

Factor in the 25% transfer bonus and you can book roundtrip flights to Hawaii using just 24,000 Rove miles.

Great Business Class Awards to Europe

With reasonable rates and low fees, Aeroplan is one of the best ways to book lie-flat business class seats to Europe.

In some cases, you'll pay just 60,000 Aeroplan points each way. Some longer flights clock in at 70,000 miles each way, while starting from the West Coast can run you as much as 85,000 points each way.

Factor in that same 25% bonus, and you can score a business class flight to Europe for just 48,000 Rove miles

Air Canada Aeroplan award from New York (JFK) to Geneva (GVA) on Swiss Airlines for 60,000 miles and $79 Canadian Dollars one way.

Just know: If you're looking to fly United to Europe with your Aeroplan points, it'll cost a bit more. Air Canada raised rates on United awards to 80,000 miles in business class, matching what United charges using its own MileagePlus miles – still a better deal (just 64,000 Rove miles) with this transfer bonus.

But with all of Air Canada's partner airlines, you've got tons of options to fly Swiss business class, Lufthansa business class, United Polaris (at a steeper cost), or even Turkish Airlines business class. This bonus makes Aeroplan one of the best ways to book them all.

ANA Business Class to Tokyo & Other Asia Deals

Somehow, a flight to Japan in business class can be even cheaper than Europe, using Aeroplan miles.

The trick is flying from either Seattle (SEA) or Vancouver (YVR), where shorter flights are cheaper thanks to Aeroplan's distance-based pricing. Those flights clock in at just 55,000 Aeroplan points each way in ANA business classmeaning just 44,000 Rove miles is all you need to make it happen with a 25% bonus.

Starting from other cities like Chicago-O'Hare (ORD), New York City (JFK), or Los Angeles (LAX) will clock in at 75,000 points each way – but that's still a solid deal considering you'd only need to transfer 60,000 Rove miles to book.

But no matter where you're flying from, finding ANA business class award space can be a chore – especially if you're hoping to fly the airline's outstanding new seats dubbed “The Room.” These days, you'll typically only find seats within three weeks (or less) of departure.

Otherwise, you can book flights down to destinations throughout Southeast Asia on airlines like EVA Air for just 87,500 points in business class – just 70,000 Rove miles after factoring in the 25% bonus. How does a trip to Thailand or Bali sound?

Short-Haul Domestic Economy Flights

Short-haul flights under 500 miles will cost 10,000 Aeroplan points, no matter if you're actually flying with Air Canada or a partner like United. That's a small but lucrative sweet spot.

This can be a great way to book short United Airlines flights, as they cost just 20,000 roundtrip or 16,000 Rove miles with a 25% bonus.

Bottom Line

Rove Miles just added Air Canada Aeroplan as a new 1:1 transfer partner – and it’s celebrating with a 25% transfer bonus through June 6, 2026.

Considering Aeroplan miles are among the best for booking flights to Europe, Asia, and even domestic trips on United, this is a huge win. With this move, Rove continues its push from a niche newcomer to a legitimate player in the transferable points space.
