Delta has been on a tear with some outstanding (and unbelievably cheap) Delta SkyMiles flash sales lately. If you're aiming to get to Asia later this year, the airline just set a new record-low rate to get you there for fewer miles.
The airline slashed award rates on its relatively new route to Taipei (TPE) this week as low as just 25,500 SkyMiles roundtrip – and not just on the nonstop from Seattle (SEA), but from airports with Delta service across the country! This is the lowest SkyMiles rate we've ever found to get our Thrifty Traveler Premium members to Asia and easily one of the best SkyMiles deals of all time.
If Taiwan isn't on the top of your list … well, perhaps it should be at these prices. But you could also use this screaming Delta deal to get to Asia for the miles you'd normally pay to get to Vegas or Chicago, then connect over to Thailand, Vietnam, or beyond to your final destination.
This is part of a public sale Delta sent out to SkyMiles members on Tuesday, which also includes discounted deals to Australia and New Zealand. But as usual, we dug in deeper for our Thrifty Traveler Premium members and found it's even cheaper (and more widespread) than Delta is letting on … and these astoundingly cheap fares to Taiwan are the highlight.
Delta launched daily flights to Taipei last spring, the airline's first nonstop between the U.S. and Taiwan. But Delta has plenty of competition on the route, with EVA Air, China Airlines, and now Starlux all flying nonstop from Seattle, too. These are the lowest SkyMiles fares we've seen on the route since it launched – a sure sign Delta is struggling to fill empty jets flying across the Pacific Ocean later this year.
You'll find the lowest rates in September, with rates as low as 30,000 SkyMiles roundtrip from many cities – or even less for travelers with a co-branded Amex card, thanks to the automatic 15% discount on Delta award tickets. But a trip to Taiwan throughout the rest of the fall will cost you just 10,000 SkyMiles more or so.
Best of all, travelers based at airports big and small can get in on this deal. Delta hubs like Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), and Detroit (DTW) all benefit from the lowest rates – there's no Delta hub penalty here!

You'll see the lowest rates are for Delta basic economy award tickets, which don't come with free seat assignment … and and get hit with a 19,000-SkyMile penalty if you want to cancel to get the rest of your miles back. They also don't count toward Delta Medallion Status, unlike most award fares booked with SkyMiles. You can't even head to the Delta Sky Club before your flight, either.
That said, you could instead book a main cabin economy fare for as low as just 37,400 SkyMiles roundtrip – giving you a free seat assignment, a free checked bag, and the ability to cancel and get your miles and taxes and fees back for free. Even at that slightly higher rate, it's still a phenomenal deal.
Better yet, these fares could be booked in either direction, as one-ways, for half the price of a roundtrip – a rarity when booking with SkyMiles. So if you've already got a one-way flight booked and are looking for a way home (or vice versa), booking one of these dirt-cheap SkyMiles fares in or out of Taipei would be a great way to complete your itinerary.
Don't have the SkyMiles you need to book these flights? You might: Delta is an Amex transfer partner, so you can send points to your SkyMiles account from cards like *amex platinum* or the *amex gold* instantly to your Delta account and book minutes later.
Thrifty Tip: Have *amex platinum*? Use the $200 airline fee credit to cover the taxes and fees for this Delta SkyMiles deal. This works as long as you have Delta selected as your preferred airline.
This isn't the first Delta flash sale we've seen to Taiwan in the last few months. Far from it: It's emerged as one of the most reliable destinations for a great deal redeeming SkyMiles … especially if you want to fly business class.
While this latest sale will put you in an economy seat, Delta has also repeatedly cut award rates flying its Delta One business class suites to Taipei as low as 83,000 SkyMiles each way. It was one of the cheapest Delta One deals we've come across in years!

How to Book Delta SkyMiles Deals to Taipei
To book these fares, do a normal search for flights at Delta.com and be sure to check the box that says “Shop with Miles”.
On the next page, you'll see a grid full of fares. You might want to click the “Price Calendar” button to get a clear, five-week view of what's available. From there, choose the dates with the lowest SkyMiles fares and book!
We typically recommend upgrading to Main Cabin to include advanced seat assignment, a free checked bag, and to have the ability to cancel online for a full refund of your SkyMiles and fees.

Bottom Line
Don't wait: These are the cheapest Delta SkyMiles fares to Asia that we've seen in years – maybe ever.
With roundtrip fares to Taiwan as low as 25,500 SkyMiles this fall, this is easily among the best SkyMiles deals we've ever seen. Delta says these rates will disappear Thursday – grab them while you can!
I’m having trouble locating flights at this price out of SEA. Can you suggest some RT search dates where you’re able to find this price?
