Singapore Airlines is out with its latest KrisFlyer miles promotion and it's good news for American travelers with several flights to the U.S. as low as 17,500 miles each way in economy next month – or 56,700 miles in business class.Â
These Singapore Airlines' “Spontaneous Escapes” promotions are for exactly what the name suggests – a spontaneous escape. That means you'll have to act fast in order to take advantage of these discounted award rates (how many points and miles it will cost you to book these flights): You have to book by April 30 for a trip sometime in May.
The headlining route for this promotion is from Germany to the U.S. (yes, Singapore flies that route), with most award seats getting a 30% discount. Sadly, Singapore Airlines' incredible first class suites are excluded from this promotion. Those savings mean one-way flights on this route will cost you just 17,500 KrisFlyer miles in economy, 36,400 miles in premium economy, or 56,700 miles in business class.
These discounted rates are only for flights leaving Frankfurt (FRA) bound for New York (JFK), which may make it harder to take advantage of. But, it could easily be worth it for some substantial savings to fly home from Europe. After yet another price hike last year, these same one-way flights typically cost 25,000 miles in economy, 52,000 miles in premium economy, and 81,000 miles for Singapore business class. In any cabin, that's a nice 30% discount for a hop across the Atlantic next month.
Frankfurt to New York isn't the only U.S. route seeing a discount with this promotion, though. You can also get a discount on flights across the Pacific Ocean – including the 15+ hour flight from Singapore (SIN) to San Francisco (SFO). Here's the full list of U.S. routes.

- Manchester (MAN) to Houston (IAH): 17,500 miles one-way in economy

- Tokyo (NRT) to Los Angeles (LAX): 51,100 miles one-way in premium economy
- Singapore (SIN) to San Francisco (SFO): 52,500 miles one-way in premium economy
Award availability on many of these routes is fairly easy to come by – including for two-plus travelers in business class on the Frankfurt to New York route – but there are blackout dates on many of the routes so be sure to double-check that you're receiving the promo rate when booking.
How to Book Singapore Airlines Award Flights
Singapore Airlines miles are incredibly easy to earn: You can transfer them from Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou points, and even Capital One Venture Miles. That means if you have a card like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card in your wallet, you're all set to take advantage of this deal.
To book, just head to SingaporeAir.com and choose the option to “Redeem flights” – you'll need a free KrisFlyer account in order to search for award tickets. Search for one-way flights and watch for the “Promo from…” award rates to ensure you're getting the best deal.
Once you've narrowed in on the flight details that will work for you, log in to your bank account and transfer over the necessary points or miles to Singapore Airlines. Most transfers to Singapore's KrisFlyer program are immediate, however, Citi and Chase can take up to one day to hit your account.
While it's only available for travel through the end of May, a 30% discount on award rates for one of the world's best airlines is nothing to scoff at – especially flying Singapore business class home from Europe. Singapore currently flies its newest Airbus A380s on this route, complete with an overhauled business class seat and middle seats that convert into a double bed!

This is one of the better Spontaneous Escapes promotions we've seen from Singapore Airlines in recent months. While there are no business class routes between the U.S. to Asia available, flying from Frankfurt to New York for only 56,700 miles in business class on Singapore is a great deal.
But there's one big catch: These discounted promo fares cannot be changed or canceled to get your miles back unless Singapore cancels your flight. Make sure you intend to fly or understand the risk if you book these award fares.
Bottom Line
Flying Singapore's business class is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and any flight with Singapore is a treat. But flying one of the world's best business class seats for less than 57,000 miles is a deal. Don't sleep on this sale.
Just make sure you're aware of the terms and conditions and are willing to book non-changeable or cancellable fares.
