Thanks to a new benefit on the Platinum Card® from American Express and a brand new Amex Offer, there's a great way for Platinum cardholders to save almost 50% on a luxury hotel stay this year or next.
It starts with a new Amex Offer for prepaid bookings at Fine Hotels and Resorts – Amex's collection of top-of-the-line properties around the world with special benefits like room upgrades, free daily breakfast, and guaranteed late checkout – or The Hotel Collection properties, which also come with a smattering of perks. With this offer, you can get $200 back on a prepaid stay of $850 or more.
This offer seems to be widely available to all cardholders with the Platinum or the Business Platinum Card® from American Express. You just have to add this offer to your card and book a prepaid stay by Nov. 12 through Amextravel.com – though that could be for a hotel stay far in the future.
But the best part is that this new offer stacks with the $200 annual hotel credit on the Platinum Card. That perk was part of a slew of new benefits rolled out last summer, pushing the card's annual fee up to $695 (see rates & fees). It's an automatic credit on any prepaid stay booked with your Platinum Card. One thing to note is that this credit requires a stay of at least two nights at Hotel Collection properties, while a one-night stay is just fine at Fine Hotels & Resorts properties.
Add those savings up, and you can easily save $400 total on prepaid hotel stays of $850 or more – a savings of up to 47%!Â

Where to Find Amex Offers
If you haven’t used Amex Offers before, simply log into your American Express account and scroll down near the bottom of the screen and there should be a box called Amex Offers & Benefits. It’s available through the Amex mobile app as well.
If you see an offer you like, simply add the offer to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card. In this case, you’ll need to book directly with Delta for the cashback credits to kick in.
You should receive a statement credit for the offer within a few days of making a purchase, though in some cases it can take several weeks. And keep in mind you don’t need to hit the spending threshold in one shot – you can spread it out over several transactions.
