Need a beach getaway when this is over? Join the club. Luckily, Delta has a massive SkyMiles flash sale to get you to the beach in Mexico this summer and fall.

And you don’t need many SkyMiles to do it. We found flights from all over the U.S. to Cancun (CUN), Cozumel (CZM), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), and Cabo San Lucas (SJD) starting at just 11,000 SkyMiles round-trip! That’s fewer than most domestic round-trip flights!

The beauty of this sale is that it’s risk-free: Delta is offering free change or cancellation on all flights booked by April 15 – including SkyMiles award tickets. That means you could book today for a trip in the summer or fall, then cancel if necessary and get your miles back free without paying Delta’s usual $150 redeposit fee. You’ll get the taxes and fees refunded back to your card, too.

That makes this a great chance to book the beach getaway you need for later this year, knowing you can cancel penalty-free down the line if the situation hasn’t improved.

You’ll find the lowest rates for travel from July through November. And the cheapest flights are basic economy awards – Delta began selling these no-frills fares even when using SkyMiles last year. But if you want to pick your seat free and board earlier, you can upgrade to a main cabin fare for just 1,000-3,000 SkyMiles more.

Most airlines charge at least 30,000 miles for a round-trip flight to Mexico, which makes this sale a steal. It’s available from most major U.S. airports, with rates as low as 11,000 SkyMiles – and most at 18,000 SkyMiles or less. Keep reading for a full list of availability, or just head to Delta.com and search to see what you can find from your home airport!

Thrifty Tip #1: When booking with SkyMiles, make sure to select “Flexible Dates” and “Price Calendar” to maximize the dates viewable.

Thrifty Tip #2: Load up your SkyMiles balance for the next deal and get airport lounge access. Earn up to 100,000 points with the Platinum Card from American Express.

Our Analysis

These flash sales are one of the best ways to use your Delta SkyMiles – they’ve been getting better and better.

Thrifty Traveler Premium members always get first dibs on these sales. We’re constantly searching for the best ways to use your Delta SkyMiles. And this is a great one.

Trying to escape Chicago? Fly from Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and back this fall for just 14,000 SkyMiles!

Even the long flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to Cancun are just 11,000 SkyMiles round-trip!

The one downside to this sale is that these fares come with some cash fees, typically between $85 and $100 round trip. Those fees are unavoidable with international travel to the Caribbean, and it can mean you’re not getting quite as much value out of your SkyMiles. Still, you can come out ahead using SkyMiles for a Mexico vacation. And we all need one right now.

Bottom Line

Delta SkyMiles get a bad rap, and there’s no denying they can be hard to use well. But these sales are a big part of the reason why we think they can be insanely valuable.

Booking domestic flights for under 20,000 SkyMiles round trip can be difficult, so some of these deals to the best destinations in Mexico are a steal.

Stop missing out on these amazing deals. Sign up for Thrifty Traveler Premium and you’ll get the best SkyMiles deals delivered straight to your inbox.
