Southwest Airlines is out with yet another big sale, selling flights throughout the U.S. for up to 40% off!
With this latest Southwest sale, you can book deeply discounted flights for travel from Dec. 3, 2025 through March 4, 2026. Blackout dates – like just before and after Christmas – do apply: They're all outlined on Southwest's sale page.
This sale could be your cheap ticket for weekend trip to Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), or a visit to anywhere Southwest flies! But no matter where you're at, you'll need to act fast: This sale ends at 11:59 p.m. PST Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.

This sale is rare because it offers 40% off almost every Southwest route during the sale dates. Whether you have a trip in mind or already have a Southwest flight on the books, it's worth checking to see if you can take advantage of this sale.
Many travelers have (understandably) soured on Southwest after the carrier ditched its beloved free baggage policy earlier this year. And because this discount only applies to the airline's cheapest “Basic” and “Choice” fares, you'll be on the hook for an extra $35 each way if you want to check a bag … but carry-on bags are free.
One other thing to note: There are quite a few blackout dates for this sale, primarily around Christmas, New Year's, and President's Day weekend to be aware of, though they vary based upon whether you're flying within the continental U.S. or out to Hawaii or an international destination. You can see all the blackout dates on Southwest's website.
Plus, now that Southwest fares appear on Google Flights, you can search for these fares using the world's best airfare search engine! The sale flight prices are showing up automatically in Google Flights, meaning you likely won't have to use the promo code “40SALE” to search for and book these flights. Just follow the Google Flights links to book directly with Southwest.
You can also head straight to the Southwest sale page, pull up Southwest's Low Fare Calendar, and get a month-long view to find the best deals. Use promo code “40SALE” to have the best fares appear, although they've been populating automatically as of Tuesday morning.
The deals vary from airport to airport, but you'll see the cheapest Wanna Get Away fares for Southwest's shorter, nonstop routes.
And since using Southwest Rapid Rewards points hinges on the cash price, these lower fares mean you could get an even better deal using points and miles to book a Southwest flight this fall or winter. Southwest is also a Chase transfer partner, so you can send Chase points from cards like the *chase sapphire preferred* to get the Southwest points you need to book these award flights.
Keep reading to see how to take advantage of this sale before it ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday, Oct 23.

- This sale also applies to award fares booked using Southwest Rapid Rewards points (remember, Southwest is a Chase transfer partner!)
- Eligible for travel from Dec. 3, 2025 to March 4, 2026
- Inter-island Hawaii flights are excluded from the sale

Want to take it to the next level? Fares booked through this sale also qualify for the Southwest Companion Pass – whether you book using cash or points! That means you could score a deeply discounted ticket and then bring your companion for nearly free, paying only the taxes and fees on the ticket.
Bottom Line
Southwest is out with yet another big sale, offering cheap fares all over the U.S. from December through March starting at 40% off. And you can save a ton whether you're paying cash or using points!
This sale could be your ticket to booking (or rebooking) cheap flights for a trip anywhere in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Hawaii this year or next. But be sure to book by Thursday, Oct. 23 before midnight PST when this Southwest sale ends!
