After disappearing earlier this year, deeply discounted Delta SkyMiles flash sales have made a serious comeback. And our latest find could get you to London for half the miles (or less) than it usually costs.
Earlier this week, we unearthed the latest amazing SkyMiles deal for our Thrifty Traveler Premium+ members: flights to London-Heathrow (LHR) starting from just 34,000 SkyMiles roundtrip for a trip this fall through February 2024. Best of all, it's a nationwide deal! From major hubs to tiny regional airports and even far-flung cities like Honolulu (HNL) and Anchorage (ANC), you can get to London from almost every airport in the country for around 40,000 miles.
This is the first discounted Delta SkyMiles deal to Europe we've found in more than a year. While some availability has disappeared since we first sent this to Thrifty Traveler Premium+ members earlier this week, there are still plenty of dates available this fall and through the winter!
Get more award alerts like this one, plus cheap domestic and international fares, with Thrifty Traveler Premium+!
You'll need a co-branded Delta Amex card to get the lowest rates here, as that unlocks an extra 15% discount to bring fares as low as 34,000 SkyMiles roundtrip. And while you can also hop on nonstop Virgin Atlantic flights to London with this deal, the TakeOff 15 benefit doesn't apply to partner airlines when redeeming your SkyMiles.
These aren't the cheapest SkyMiles fares we've seen to London, but it's a stellar deal compared to the 60,000 miles or more that most airlines charge for roundtrip flights to Europe. Plus, these are Delta's main cabin economy fares – not Delta basic economy – which means you'll get a free checked bag and free seat selection, too. And if plans change, you can cancel your ticket and get your miles straight back, no question.
The one downside with flying straight into London is some unavoidably high taxes and fees: Every award ticket will get hit with $200 or so in fees.
Thrifty Tip: Have *amex platinum card*? Use your $200 annual airline fee credit to cover the taxes on this trip!
Don't have the SkyMiles you need? Delta is an Amex transfer partner, so you can send points to your SkyMiles account from cards like *amex platinum card* or the *amex gold card* instantly.
Delta itself typically charges 80,000 SkyMiles for roundtrip flights to London or anywhere in Europe – if not much, much more. And considering many of these exact same flights would cost you close to $900 or may paying with cash, this is a rock-solid way to burn some SkyMiles for a trip across the pond this year or next.
And you can find low rates all across the country … whether you're flying nonstop from the East Coast, starting in California, or connecting from a small regional airport. Flights to London are bookable for under 36,000 SkyMiles from more than 100 airports – keep reading for the full list! Unfortunately, travelers in some major Delta outposts like Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), Detroit (DTW), and Seattle (SEA) will see slightly higher rates due to the Delta hub penalty.
But no matter where you're starting from, you can book these discounted rates from late September all the way through February – including over Thanksgiving, a great time for an international trip!
Even from all the way over in Alaska or Hawaii, you can get to London with one quick connection for less than 36,000 SkyMiles!
Thrifty Tip: Make sure to use Delta’s “Price Calendar” feature when searching for award rates to find the best deals over a five-week span.

Bottom Line
What better reason do you need to book a trip to London this fall or winter?
Getting to London and back for half the miles most airlines charge is why we value SkyMiles more than most. These SkyMiles flash sales are easily some of the best ways to use your Delta SkyMiles.
With a recent resurgence of SkyMiles like this one, we're searching harder than ever to find the next amazing deal like this one for our Thrifty Traveler Premium+ members.
I’ll save all MSP flyers the trouble.
There are 3 departure dates this is available on the non-stop:
March 28
April 3
April 4
And plenty more where it’s available with a short connection. Thanks Eric.
There are no nonstops MSP-LHR
Delta has not reinstated it and it is not on the schedule until April 2022 and even then, only limited days a week.
Remove the MSP nonstop asterisk and thanks for wasting my time.
Also, after the $200 in taxes and fees, you might be better off just purchasing a revenue ticket. My advice, do the math on the Skymiles valuation first.
MSP-LHR is currently set to resume in late March, that’s why it’s on this list. As for being better off purchasing a cash ticket: Perhaps. But even factoring in close to $200 in fees, you’re still potentially coming out far ahead on a $750-$1,000 ticket – especially considering these award rates are for the higher-priced main cabin fares.
couldnt find any fare under 42k miles LAX to Heathrow
Great deal. Thanks for posting. I booked 2 tickets @ 20,000 points each non-stop JFK/LHR.
