Nationwide Delta SkyMiles Deal: Fly to Europe from 22K+ SkyMiles RT!

Another week, another great Delta SkyMiles deal – this time with deeply discounted rates to some of the best spots throughout Europe.

You can fly to Europe and back throughout much of the winter – and even into the spring – for as low as 22,000 SkyMiles round-trip. And there are deals nationwide, flying into London-Heathrow (LHR), Zurich (ZRH), Brussels (BRU), Madrid (MAD). Even airports on the West Coast like San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) can get to Europe and back for just 22,000 SkyMiles.

Delta is advertising these deals on its SkyMiles Deals page – but as usual, it’s even bigger than advertised, with better deals and more routes on sale. So be sure to search from your home airport!

While not every city will see rates this cheap – Delta strongholds like Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), Detroit (DTW), and Atlanta (ATL) get hit with Delta’s hub penalty – you can still fly to Europe from almost any airport with Delta service for 40,000 SkyMiles or less. Considering most airlines charge at least 60,000 miles for these flights, that’s a

You’ll generally find the best deals – and best availability – flying into London-Heathrow (LHR), Zurich (ZRH), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), and Brussels (BRU) from January through March. But there are great deals on flights to Rome (FCO), Barcelona (BCN), and more. Just head to and start searching to see what you can find.

As a bonus, these are all main cabin economy fares – not basic economy. So no need to worry about picking your seat or checking a bag; it’s all free with these tickets.

Thrifty Tip #1: Make sure to use Delta’s “flexible dates” feature when searching for award rates to find the best deals.

Thrifty Tip #2: Want to boost your SkyMiles balance for the next deal and get lounge access worldwide? Earn up to 100,000 points with American Express (transferable to Delta) after spending $5,000 in three months with the Platinum Card from American Express.

These flash sales are among the best ways to use your SkyMiles. Delta and most airlines charge at least 60,000 miles for a round-trip flight to Europe in economy.

There are great deals scattered nationwide, so be sure to search from your home airport to see what kind of rates you can find. From the massive hubs like New York City-JFK (JFK) and Boston (BOS) starting at 22,000 SkyMiles round-trip to much smaller airports like Fargo (FAR) and Fresno (FAT) for 40,000 SkyMiles each, there are a lot of deals available.

London calling? That comes with a hitch – large (and unavoidable) cash fees around $170 or so. But with flights as low as 22,000 SkyMiles apiece, that’s a small price to pay. Fly into Zurich, Madrid, or even Paris to keep your cash costs lower.

Our Analysis

Delta is on an absolute tear with some amazing flash sales lately.

In just the last few months, we’ve also found unadvertised flash sales to Iceland as low as 24,000 SkyMiles round trip, South America from just 12,000 SkyMiles, or a trip to the Caribbean Islands from 12,000 SkyMiles!

These aren’t the lowest rates we’ve seen to use SkyMiles for a trip to Europe – but it’s still insanely cheap. It’s usually far more expensive to get to Europe from the West Coast. But even California is getting some love with this SkyMiles deal.

You’ll generally find the lowest rates for flights into London-Heathrow (LHR), Zurich (ZRH), and Brussels (BRU), though there are certainly other great deals into other European hubs.

Bottom Line

These sales are one of the main reasons why we value SkyMiles more than most. Delta can be tough to grasp because it doesn’t have an award chart, and that means they often charge an arm and a leg for an award flight. But that freedom also comes with tremendous upside. So take advantage and get to Europe in style for as low as 22,000 SkyMiles!

  • I can’t seem to find out how to search flexible dates. I never see that box to check. I even searched by money not miles as well.

    • First, make sure you’re using the desktop site and not via mobile. As you’re selecting your dates from the homepage for your search, look for a small box labeled “Flexible Dates” — tick it and it should pull up some flexible options.

  • The fights from BOS-LHR are such a find at 20k miles but require long (7 hour???) layovers at JFK or DTW. How do you make that layover worth it?

    • Try other dates or scroll farther down past the initial options. There are tons of BOS-LHR fares with quick connections or nonstop. I checked one date (Nov 13th) and found tons of options.

  • I am looking to travel to Rome (FCO) from Columbus (CMH) in April or May. The cheapest that I am finding is 62,000 points. Is that a pretty standard amount for a smaller airport like Columbus?
