Starting this summer, you'll be able to fly nonstop from the Rockies to Rome thanks to United Airlines.

United announced its first-ever service from its mega-hub in Denver (DEN) to Rome, Italy (FCO) starting May 1, 2025, instantly connecting travelers from Colorado (and from the 160 other U.S. domestic destinations that fly to DEN) straight to Italy every day of the week. It's the only direct flight to Rome from Denver, too.

A Boeing 787 Dreamliner equipped with United Polaris Business Class, United Premium Economy, and Economy seats will make the daily journey back and forth to Rome. The flight departs Denver at 5:50 p.m. mountain time and arrives in Italy at a comfortable 12:20 p.m. the next day. United has the flight clocked at 10 hours and 30 minutes.

The new flight is already on sale on United's website, although the fares are not yet appearing on Google Flights as of publication.

Fares are…a little steep at the moment. The same goes for using your United MileagePlus miles, too.

As is usually the case with United, the best value is going to be using points and miles from United's partner programs like Air Canada Aeroplan. While you can't yet secure United Polaris Business Class through Air Canada, at least the economy rate is more palatable.

Currently, United flies nonstop to London (LHR) and Frankfurt (FRA) from Denver every day, adding a Munich (MUC) flight during the summer months, too. This will be the airport's fourth long-haul international flight on United.

The new long-haul offering from United will join the other European routes from the airport on Aer Lingus to Dublin (DUB), Air France to Paris (CDG), British Airways to London (LHR), Icelandair to Reykjavik (KEF), Lufthansa to FRA and MUC, and Turkish to Istanbul (IST).

This will be United's 10th nonstop flight to Italy operating in 2025, and fourth flying to Rome. You can catch United flights to Rome from Newark (EWR), Washington, D.C. (IAD), Chicago (ORD), and San Francisco (SFO) along with Denver next summer. That leaves just Houston (IAH) as the sole remaining United hub without a Rome flight.

Bottom Line

United flyers have yet another way to get to Italy next summer when the airline launches nonstop service from Denver (DEN) to Rome (FCO).

The new route starts May 1 on a 787 Dreamliner and will connect United's Rocky Mountain mega-hub with Italy for the first time ever.
