Fly Etihad For Less in 2021: 30% Off All Awards, Including Apartments!

Etihad is one of the world’s best airlines with an unbeatable first class cabin so big it’s not just a suite – it’s called The Apartment. And that’s just part of the reason why we’re so excited about this promotion.

Etihad is running a special sale, offering 30% off all awards booked with Etihad Guest miles. And those are easy to get because you can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points, Capital One Venture Miles, Citi ThankYou Points, and Marriott Bonvoy points. A discount of 30% is pretty substantial.

But the best part is just how wide-open this sale is. You’ll see reduced award rates on every single Etihad route, whether you fly economy, business, or first class. And it’s good for travel all the way through May 31, 2021.

You just have to book your award flights by Aug. 27 to get these lower rates.

Using American AAdvantage miles has long been the go-to way to book Etihad award flights. But with this sale, transferring whatever points you’ve got to Etihad is likely much better. You won’t get this great discount using miles from partner programs like American, Aeroplan, or others.

And it’s worth locking in these low rates for future travel as Etihad has waived all fees to change the dates of your award tickets. Otherwise, you can fork over 10% of the miles you used to cancel your ticket and get your miles back. Etihad currently requires all travelers to provide a negative PCR test before flights to Abu Dhabi.

Let’s take a look at some possibilities.

Excellent Etihad Awards

To get started, you’ll need to head to the Etihad Guest Miles award booking page and start searching. If you don’t already have an Etihad Guest account, it’s worth setting one up – you’ll need it to transfer miles to book these flights, and it will stop the continuous prompts to log in when searching for flights.

You’ll want to focus on finding “Guest First” availability. When you do, this 30% discount is already applied.

Apartments from New York to Abu Dhabi for 96,000 miles

Flights between New York City (JFK) and Abu Dhabi (AUH) in the Apartments typically cost 136,000 miles and change. With this sale, you can book for under 96,000 miles – plus about $255 in fees.

For comparison, both American and Aeroplan would charge 115,000 miles for these same flights. One important note: You won’t find one-way availability from New York City to Abu Dhabi. Instead, search for a round-trip ticket from Abu Dhabi to New York City and find the date(s) that works to fly from the U.S. to the U.A.E. Then call Etihad Guest at 1 (0) 877 690 0767 to book.

Fly the Apartments to/from Europe for 55,000 Miles!

One of the best budget plays to score your own Apartment is flying between Abu Dhabi and Europe – especially Paris.

You can score a one-way first class flight from Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Abu Dhabi for just over 55,000 Etihad miles, plus some unavoidable taxes and fees. Those awards normally cost nearly 80,000 Etihad miles.

Flights between London-Heathrow (LHR) and Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, have dropped to about 57,000 miles (with some even higher cash fees).

Budget Business Class

You’ll find big savings for Etihad’s business class cabins, too.

Flying between New York and the Middle East is an option, of course. But you should also look for flights on Etihad’s Boeing 787s, which has the airline’s newest business class seats.

With flights as low as 70,000 miles each way with this discount, it’s a pretty darn good deal – especially considering you can transfer points from banks like American Express and Capital One, among others.

How to Earn Etihad Miles

With a deadline of Aug. 27 to book flights at a steep discount, it’s too late to open a brand new credit card to capitalize on this deal.

But if you’ve already got the right points, you’re in luck.

Maybe you’ve earned the 100,000-point bonus from the Platinum Card from American Express, one of the best bonuses available on the market. That’s enough to snag a one-way flight in your own Apartment between New York and Abu Dhabi. You can easily transfer your Amex points straight to Etihad – 100,000 points gets you 100,000 Etihad Guest miles, and those transfers are instantaneous.

Or maybe you’ve been racking up points on groceries, dining, and travel with the American Express Gold Card (and if you’re not, you should be.) That card is currently offering up to 75,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 within three months – a record-high bonus, and double the norm. Either way, you can transfer those points to Etihad, too.

If you’ve got the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, that’s another strong option to transfer your points to Etihad Guest. The card earns 2x points on every single purchase, which makes it a mainstay in many travelers’ wallets. And the 50,000-mile bonus after spending $3,000 in the first three months of card membership doesn’t hurt, either. These miles transfer to Etihad on a 2:1.5 ratio, so a stash of 50,000 miles will net you 37,500 Etihad Guest Miles.

Bottom Line

We’re starting to see more and more promotions from airlines and hotels to get travelers thinking ahead and planning trips. But this 30% award sale from Etihad might just be our favorite.

It’s good on every single Etihad route, whether you’re flying first class or economy. It’s good for travel through May 31, 2021, so there’s no need to plan a trip anytime soon.

Just make sure you book by Aug. 27 to get these low rates!
