In good times and bad, the American Express Gold Card is one of the best all-around travel cards on the market. With a standard welcome bonus of 35,000 points after spending $4,000 within three months, earning 4x points per dollar at both restaurants and grocery stores, and extra perks, it’s at the front of many travelers’ wallets. This latest offer could make it a no-brainer…

You can currently qualify for a welcome bonus of up to 75,000 points on the American Express Gold Card after spending $4,000 within three months – more than double the standard bonus and the highest offer we’ve ever seen for this card.

This huge offer is available exclusively through CardMatch, a tool that helps consumers find which credit cards they may be prequalified for without a hard credit pull.

Not everyone will be targeted for this lucrative offer. And others may instead be targeted for a 60,000-point welcome bonus with the same spending requirement. Either way, it’s a massive increase for the bonus on one of the best credit cards available – especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

It won’t make sense for everyone, given the economic uncertainty and slowdown in travel. But if you’ve got the financial means to open and pay off a new credit card, this is a great opportunity to earn some major points for future travel.

No hard credit pull is necessary to see if you qualify for one of these outstanding offers.

Amex Gold CardMatch Offer

New to American Express cards? That seems to be your best bet to qualifying for this 60,000- to 75,000-point offer through CardMatch.

Based on past evidence, it seems that those who have never held an American Express card have the best chance. That said, these offers won’t be available for all users.

As we mentioned, the normal welcome bonus offer on the American Express Gold Card is 35,000 points after $4,000 in spending in the first three months. You can also find a 40,000-point offer for the same spending requirement via a personal referral link.

But this offer to earn 75,000 Membership Rewards points after spending the $4,000 in three months matches the highest bonus offer ever for this card.

You can easily get $750 in free travel from this bonus – and likely several times more than that. Check out some of the best ways to use your bonus from the Amex Gold Card.

The American Express Gold Card is a favorite of the Thrifty Traveler team. Besides the outstanding 75,000-point targeted welcome offer, it earns 4x points per dollar spent at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 annually).

You’ll also earn 3x points per dollar spent directly with airlines or at amextravel.com. And you receive a $120 annual dining credit, split into $10 monthly installments for charges at GrubHub, Seamless, The Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Boxed & Participating Shake Shack locations.

Finally, you’ll get a $100 travel credit for airline fees. Read our guide on the best ways to use these credits.

The annual fee of $250 is not waived for the first year, but we still feel the card is more than worth it. There may be no more rewarding card for your everyday spend.

Even if you aren’t targeted for the 75,000 point offer, there is a chance you could be targeted for a 60,000 point offer on the American Express Gold Card. And that offer is worth considering, too.

  • I know sites like this make money off of credit card links but it should be noted that two player mode might be more beneficial for the couple. I have a 30k MR referral that gives the person being referred 60k MR. So combined we get 90k MR instead of the 75k without a referral
