Capital One has quietly rolled out a new targeted offer offering a huge haul of miles – especially for cardholders who haven’t booked through the Capital One Travel portal before.

Some cardholders are being offered 20x Capital One miles per dollar spent on their first hotel, vacation rental, or rental car booking made through Capital One Travel, valid on bookings made through April 15, 2026. For most cardholders, this promo offer will be capped at earning up to 30,000 bonus miles – though Frequent Miler has reported some cardholders can earn up to 40,000 miles.

So if you've got a card like the *venture x*, the *capital one venture card*, or other cards that give you access to the Capital One Travel portal, you'll want to log in and see if you're targeted. If so, it should appear immediately when you navigate to the Capital One Travel. Better yet, it's applied automatically at checkout – there is no activation required.

Capital One Travel Portal Offer to earn up to 30k miles

While this is valid only through April 15, it should also work for any nonrefundable (aka prepaid) bookings made before that date for a trip later this year or even into early 2027.

How it Works & How to Maximize It

If you're targeted for the offer, Capital One will temporarily replace your normal earning rate with 20x miles per dollar on a single qualifying booking until you hit the cap of 30,000 or 40,000 miles.

That means you’ll earn 20x miles per dollar spent on up to $2,000 of spending , depending on which offer you are targeted for. Once you reach that threshold, any remaining portion of the purchase earns miles at your card’s standard rate. Qualifying bookings include hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars. Notably, flights, vacation packages, and activities are all excluded.

This offer appears to be targeted to cardholders who haven’t previously booked through Capital One Travel. And there's an easy way to take this to the next level, too.

Any purchases made through the Capital One portal aren't just eligible to earn miles. You can also redeem miles after the fact when you charge it to your Capital One Venture or Venture X Card, too – since you can go back and erase any and all travel purchases using Capital One miles. Every mile covers 1 cent, so you could erase a $500 purchase with 50,000 miles.

So let's say you're planning to book a $1,500 hotel stay or vacation rental for a trip later this year. You could:

  • Charge that to your Capital One Card and earn 30,000 Capital One miles
  • Go back and erase the entire purchase with 150,000 Capital One miles – or even just a portion of it!

That effectively reduces the cost of your pricey hotel stay to just 120,000 Capital One miles. Not bad!

Normally, we'd steer clear of booking many hotels through the Capital One travel portal – especially from the big hotel chains like Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott, as you won't earn points and any elite status wouldn't be recognized. But for a boutique hotel stay or somewhere one of the big box chains simply isn't an option, this is a solid strategy.

You could even apply the $300 annual travel credit on the Venture X Card. Just keep in mind that would reduce the amount you're paying upfront – you won't earn 20x miles (or any miles, period) on that first $300. Still, it could make your hotel stay, home rental, or rental car even cheaper in the long run.

Bottom Line

Capital One is targeting some cardholders with an offer to get 20x miles per dollar spent on their first hotel, vacation rental, or rental car booking through Capital One Travel, valid through April 15, 2026.

If you’re eligible, the offer appears automatically when you log into the Capital One Travel portal and applies at checkout. It's an easy way to earn a bunch of miles on an upcoming hotel stay, home rental, or rental car.

We'd act fast if you want to take advantage, though. While Capital One says this is valid through April 15, it could get pulled sooner as cardholders jump on a chance to earn 20x miles.
