It's not even officially summer yet, but Delta already has next winter on its mind.

The Atlanta-based airline announced Friday it's adding new routes and more flights from four major hubs – Atlanta (ATL), Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) Los Angeles (LAX), and Salt Lake City (SLC) – to some of the most popular ski destinations out West next winter. And not to the big cities like Denver (DEN) but smaller, mountainside stops like Wyoming's Jackson Hole (JAC), Sun Valley (SUN) in Idaho, Bozeman (BZN), and more.

Those additions will make it Delta's largest winter ski season schedule to date, flying 10% more seats to winter hotspots than it did this past winter, the airline said.

After a two-year hiatus, Delta is bringing back nonstop flights to Sun Valley, Idaho from Los Angeles. It's the only “new” route on the list … but the airline is adding dozens more flights to many of its other slope-side destinations. That includes ramping up to daily service from Minneapolis to Steamboat Springs (HDN) in Colorado and Jackson Hole, among others.

These are all winter seasonal routes, starting up Dec. 21 and running through March 30, 2025. Delta does warn, however, that frequencies may change throughout the season depending on demand.

Last winter, Delta and other airlines added tons of extra capacity to warm weather destinations like Mexico and the Caribbean … to mixed results: Many airlines were forced to slash prices to fill empty seats. With skiing seemingly more popular than ever, Delta could be making a strategy shift away from the south, flying west to the mountains instead.

Here's what skiers in each big Delta hub have to look forward to this coming winter.

Atlanta (ATL)

Salt Lake City (SLC)

  • Bozeman, Montana (BZN): 3x daily
  • Jackson Hole (JAC): 3x daily
  • Sun Valley, Idaho (SUN): 3x daily

Los Angeles (LAX)

  • Daily flights to Aspen, Colorado (ASE)
  • New Saturday service to Sun Valley, Idaho (SUN)
  • Flights to Vail, Colorado (EGE) seven days a week
  • Daily service to Jackson Hole (JAC), up from twice a week
  • Daily service to Bozeman, Montana (BZN), down from twice daily

Bottom Line

Delta is beefing up its ski season routes from four of its biggest hubs next winter.

The airline is resuming service to Sun Valley, Idaho (SUN) from Los Angeles (LAX) while adding and dozens of additional flights to many other popular ski destinations out west.
