There's a lot to love about Airbnb. Whether you're traveling alone or with a large group, you can often save a boatload on accommodations while staying in the thick of the action rather than at a stuffy hotel.
One of the few drawbacks of the home rental platform is that it's much harder to pile up points and miles than with traditional hotel chains. Airbnb has a partnership with Delta that allows you to earn SkyMiles, plus a few other, less lucrative airline partnerships.
But God Save the Points reports that you can now earn British Airways Avios on Airbnb stays. Better yet, you'll earn 3x Avios for every $1 (or euro, or U.K. pound) you spend on Airbnb. That's a great return compared to the 1x SkyMiles
Just head to the British Airways' store before making any Airbnb reservation and click through to earn those bonus Avios.
Avios aren't the best currency in the world of points and miles, and things got a bit worse last month when British Airways hiked award rates for many partner airline bookings. But they still have their place – even for U.S. travelers.
- They can be great for booking short domestic flights in the U.S. on American Airlines, including one-ways
- Trying to get to Hawaii? While American charges 45,000 AAdvantage miles round-trip, you need just 26,000 Avios to book the exact same flights from the West Coast
- Flights from the East Coast to almost any Caribbean island are just 22,000 Avios round trip!
- You can transfer Avios from British Airways to Iberia, so long as both accounts are 90-plus days old. Then use your Iberia miles to book one of the cheapest ways to get to Europe flying business class
Bottom Line
The ability to earn Avios on your Airbnb stays is a nice addition. Now you just have to choose whether you want miles with Delta or British Airways when you're booking your next Airbnb.
