Travelers in Utah now have two new lounges to pick from in Salt Lake City (SLC) after a pair of long-awaited openings: A second Delta Sky Club and a new American Express Centurion Lounge.

These new clubs share some similarities: Both promise views of the Wasatch Mountains and offer fireplace seating as part of the lounge experience. The same credit cards – the American Express Platinum Card® or the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card – can get you into both of them. And they're both leaning into their high altitude and “premium” branding: Press releases unveiling these two lounges use the word “elevate” eight times!

Nonetheless, they're welcome additions to the Salt Lake City lounge scene – especially a massive new Delta Sky Club.

Travelers with access to Delta Sky Clubs or Amex Centurion Lounges will appreciate these two new options when flying from, to, or through SLC.

A New Delta Sky Club in Concourse B

Long home to a Delta Sky Club, there's another one now open – and this one is the airline's second-largest club worldwide, Delta says.

The lounge clocks in at nearly 34,000 square feet, with space for up to 600 guests. Video of the new space released by Delta shows just how vast it is. Here's a screen grab.

Photos of the area showcase high windows facing the airport and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. It also has a hearth-style fireplace centerpiece that oozes cozy mountain energy.

Like all Sky Clubs, there's a bar area as well as a food buffet. Special to this lounge in Utah is a “Dirty Soda” bar – a popular option among Utahns that is spreading across the country.

Also unique to this Sky Club is something called a “Digital Immersion” wall, which promises to “surround guests with panoramic visuals of Utah's iconic landmarks, paired with nature sounds for a calming, 4D experience.”

How to Get into the Delta Sky Club

Flyers with top-tier Delta Reserve and Amex Platinum cards can both access the Delta Sky Club – with some limitations.

For starters, you'll need a Delta boarding pass for that day – and not in Delta “Main Basic” economy

After Amex and Delta swung the hammer down on unfettered lounge access, Reserve card holders now get 15 visits per year while travelers with the Amex Platinum – not the Delta SkyMiles Platinum, which no longer offers lounge access – get 10 visits each year. That resets Feb. 1, running through Jan. 31.

You can also access the Delta Sky Club with a Delta One ticket for business class flights overseas, as well as when you're flying on one of Delta's partners (i.e. Air France, KLM, & Korean Air) abroad in business or first class as well.

The 31st Amex Centurion Lounge

Delta's close partner American Express opened a branded lounge of its own in SLC's B Concourse Tuesday, the 31st Centurion Lounge in the bank's portfolio.

According to American Express, the 18,000-square-foot lounge features an outdoor terrace with views of the Wasatch Mountains as well. Much like the Sky Club, the lounge also features its own cozy fireplace area, which Amex calls the “Hearth Room.”

Like other Centurion lounges, this one also has a special coffee bar called “Blue Roast” as well as two other bars and a food buffet.

This Salt Lake City space seems to cater specifically to Utah's mountain adventures: There's a “Recovery Room” with lounge chairs, compression boots, and massage guns, and “health-conscious bites for an elevated wellness experience.” The lounge also has shower suites – perfect for skiers and riders heading home after a day of riding the Wasatch, too!

How to Get into the Centurion Lounge

In order get in, you need to hold the Amex Platinum card or its small business counterpart, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

You can also get in with Delta's top-tier Reserve Card. But there's a hitch: You have to be flying Delta that day. While American Express says you must have paid for your ticket with your Reserve card too, the fine print makes clear that buying it with any U.S.-issued Amex card will do.

Bottom Line

Salt Lake City travelers have two new lounge options as the Centurion Lounge and a new Delta Sky Club both opened Tuesday morning.

For travelers with lounge access, the massive Sky Club and the amenity-rich Centurion Lounge are both compelling options.
