This is the first official photo of the new paint job on Delta's first Airbus A350 (N501DN), which is set to be delivered to Delta in July. The photo was taken from the Airbus paint shop in Toulouse, France. Delta's new A350 recently took its first flight sans paint job last month, and today was the first day it was seen in Delta's livery.
The A350 will be a huge leap forward for Delta's aging wide-body fleet. The aircraft will debut Delta's fancy new Delta One product as well as the new Premium cabin. The two new Delta cabins will be a massive improvement over the tired premium offerings currently available.
The A350 aircraft is expected to replace the Boeing 747 on several of Delta's trans-pacific asia routes later this year and will likely depart from Atlanta or Detroit (praying for MSP though). Once delivered to Delta, the aircraft will undergo additional testing and the inaugural revenue flight will likely be on a domestic route in September, before flying internationally. The inaugural flight is going to be a hot ticket and I'm hoping to be there!
