Got a stash of Hilton Honors points? Or Hilton free night award certificates from credit cards like the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card? Here's your chance to book a stay at one of the best properties on Maui for next to nothing.

We're seeing wide-open award availability to book the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort all the way into early January 2025! This standard award space is bookable for 110,000 Hilton Honors points per night – the lowest rate you'll find for this luxe resort that typically costs $1,000 or more a night.

And when we say widespread, we mean widespread: You can book award nights most days through the spring and virtually every day from June through December – even over Christmas and New Year's! This is the best award availability we've ever seen for this property, period. Award stays don't pay the pesky resort fee, either.

Critically, that price point also means you can book with a Hilton free night certificate. This pricey property is a great way to use those certificates – especially since they're now eligible to use any day of the week, not just weekends.

Plus, travelers with any level of Hilton status can book five nights and only pay for four thanks to Hilton's fifth night free on award bookings. That means a five-night stay would cost you 440,000 Hilton Honors points or 88,000 points per night.

Thrifty Tip: Got *amex platinum*? That comes with complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status, which unlocks a fifth night free on award stays plus a daily food and beverage credit for two guests.

The Grand Wailea is located on Maui's southwestern shores, far from the area that was badly burned by wildfires over the summer. No one on the Thrifty Traveler team has stayed here personally, but it gets great reviews and is widely regarded as one of the best resorts on the island.

Here's everything you need to know if you are thinking about booking this deal.

How to Book the Grand Wailea

  • There is now standard room award availability at the Grand Wailea on most dates from early late January 2024 through December 2024, as of publication.
  • This makes it possible to book free nights for 110,000 Hilton Honors points or apply free night certificates earned from certain Hilton credit cards.
  • You won't find the 110,000-point-per-night standard room award availability for every single day, but it's available most days from January through May and almost every day from June through the end of the year – a rarity for a property this popular.
  • If you have Hilton Honors Silver status or higher, you can book five consecutive nights and only pay for four – a 20% savings per night.

Current Grand Wailea Award Availability

As of publication, standard room award availability at the Grand Wailea is open on most dates through the end . Aside from a few random dates missing (or pricing out at much higher rates) through the spring, it's wide open to book with Hilton points or free night certificates. Even a stay over Christmas and New Year's is bookable!

Scan through the calendar (make sure you select “my dates are flexible” when entering your dates at Hilton.com) and you'll see the dates that are available.

How to Search for Availability with the Calendar View

To find dates with standard room award availability at 110,000 points per night, the easiest way is to search with the calendar view. But that is easier said than done, as Hilton doesn't make searching for award nights very intuitive.

But there is a way to quickly pull up a calendar view that will show you all the nights with standard room award availability.

After doing a quick search on Hilton's site, I randomly threw in dates for a stay.

Hilton Calendar Search

From here, you can click on the date (July 13), and it will pop open a full booking calendar. Make sure to select “Shop by Price” at the bottom of the calendar view. Once you've done that, you'll see a calendar view with all the bookable dates.

So long as you have the “Use Points” box checked, it will display award rates for every day each month.

Bottom Line

There is great award availability at the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, from late January running all the way through the early January 2025. Aside from a few random dates blacked out over the spring, almost every day over that span is bookable for 110,000 points per night or free night certificates.

It's incredibly rare to see more than a few days bookable at this incredible property. This is just your ticket for a luxe getaway in Hawaii for a summer vacation, winter getaway, or spring break trip this year.
