Starting next week and running through Jan. 31, 2021, Hilton is allowing its top-tier elites to give a year of Hilton Honors status to a friend or family member.

If you hold Diamond status, you'll be able to give someone Hilton Gold status, which gets them free breakfast for two at Hilton properties, complimentary upgrades when available, and other perks. Have lifetime Hilton Diamond status? You can give out top-tier Diamond status.

This ability to give status isn't live yet: It's expected to launch next week, and will be available through Jan. 31, 2021. A recipient will get a year's worth of status.

And yes, you can even gift status if you have Diamond status through credit cards. That means if you hold the Hilton Honors Aspire American Express Aspire Card (one of the best hotel cards out there in part because you get automatic Diamond elite status) you can gift Gold status to a friend or family member for 2021.

Benefits of Hilton Gold Status

Critically, we feel that Hilton Honors Gold status is one of the best mid-tier hotel status out there.
It typically takes 20 stays, 40 nights, or earning 75,000 base points in a calendar year to earn the status.

Just for having Gold Status, you will get free breakfast for two at almost any Hilton hotel worldwide. No other hotely loyalty program offers free breakfast for two with mid-tier status, and it can save you hundreds of dollars during your travels.

Gold members also get complimentary upgrades to preferred rooms when available, earn 80% more points on paid Hilton stays, fifth-night free on award stays, get two free bottles of water and complimentary Wi-Fi access, and more.

But even if you aren't gifted the status, Gold status is incredibly easy to earn by holding certain credit cards like the Platinum Card from American Express, and the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card.

How to Gift Hilton Honors Gold Status

Hilton will be emailing Diamond and lifetime Diamond members codes that can be used to gift status to somebody else. Once you have these codes and you want to share it with somebody, simply follow either link below depending on your status level.

Once the code has been entered, the giftee will be prompted to go through the steps of upgrading their status.

Bottom Line

Hilton Honors Diamond members will be able to gift Gold elite status to a friend or family member starting next week which will be good through 2021.

You'll have until Jan. 31 to gift status.
