One of the questions we get asked most frequently by fellow travelers is, “Am I going to make my connection?” Our favorite travel app might finally have your definitive answer.
This week, Flighty launched an update to its already popular flight-tracking app, upgrading its “Connection Assistant” to provide step-by-step guides for travelers' connections. The app will let you know whether you need to clear passport control, recheck your bag, go through security again, or change terminals.

The update is now available on the Apple App Store. Flighty is still not available for Android users, sadly.
Best of all, the app will estimate how long each step will take you – giving you the clearest look yet at exactly how long your connection might take.
According to Flighty CEO Ryan Jones, it's all part of a step to make one of the most stressful travel moments a little easier.
“Knowing a connection is theoretically possible doesn't help anyone. What helps is knowing what it actually takes to reach your next gate,” he said in a release. “The new Connection Assistant shows you exactly that, so you can move through any airport like you've done it 100 times, even if it's your first.”

To make this happen, Flighty says it will start doing gate predictions – telling travelers where they are likely to end up in the airport based on that flight's historical gates.
Then there's the personalized guidance – a first in air travel – allowing travelers “tailored instructions” based on what kind of passport they have so travelers know what line to get in through immigration. The app will display the steps you have to go through to get to your connecting flight.
The same connection assistant will work for Flighty's “Friends” feature, which lets you track your friends and family as they travel as well.
Since its launch, Flighty has continued to improve what I believe is the best travel app, period. It now offers airport dashboards, helping you track delays and cancellations all over the country. It's also visible on Apple CarPlay – a huge upgrade for airport picker-uppers and drop-offers. Plus, it was the first travel app to give delay insights and predictions … which, in my experience, have been remarkably accurate.
Bottom Line
Our favorite travel app is seriously upgrading its “Connection Assistant” – offering gate predictions and step-by-step guidance through international connections.
It's a first-of-its-kind, personalized look at complicated international connections that aims to solve a frequent traveler concern.

Honestly, their app will continue to be second rate nonsense until they roll it out to the 50% of the population that uses Android. What serious company only offers their app on one platform nowadays?
