If you have a Visa credit card in your wallet, there's a new way to get a free membership of Shipt, which offers same-day delivery service from retailers like Target, Costco, Walgreens, and many more depending on your location. But just how long you can get free Shipt access depends on which type of Visa card you have.

Top-of-the-line Visa Infinite cards – like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, The Chase Sapphire Reserve®, and others – can get up to three years of membership at no cost! But even other popular travel cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card can get a few free months of Shipt and ongoing discounts.

These top Visa cards unlock some serious additional perks beyond what's listed in the usual benefits: think things like stellar travel insurance coverage when you use the card to pay for flights, excellent rental car insurance, purchase protection, roadside assistance, and more. But this Shipt perk has flown under the radar … until now.

Shipt membership normally costs $99 a year and provides free same-day deliveries on orders of $35 or more.

Read on for everything you need to know about this Shipt benefit for Visa cardholders that was first made available last fall.

What Offers are Available for Visa Cardholders?

Shipt membership typically costs $99 a year or $9.99 a month. However, through Dec. 31, 2024, by enrolling your Visa Infinite, Signature or regular Visa consumer credit card, you can get special discounts depending on the type of card you have.

The easiest way to know what kind of Visa card you have is to look at your physical credit card. You'll see whether it's an Infinite or a Signature card underneath the Visa logo. If you don't see either, it's a traditional Visa.

Visa Infinite Cardholders

Visa Infinite cardholders will get a free Shipt membership for up to three years from the enrollment date – and no less than 12 months as long as you enroll by the expiration date of Dec. 31, 2024.

Premium travel credit cards like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® are Visa Infinite cards.

You can learn more about all the benefits provided by Visa Infinite cards on Visa's website.

Visa Signature cardholders will get a free Shipt membership for three months and a discount of 50% for another nine months from enrollment.

Hows to Enroll Your Visa Card for Shipt Membership

First things first, you will need to head to the dedicated landing page on Shipt's website for this new partnership. Once there, enter your zip code to see if Shipt is available where you live.

If you live anywhere near a Target store, there is a good chance Shipt is available – the retailer acquired Shipt back in 2017 to bolster its delivery capabilities. According to Shipt, the service is available in more than 5,000 cities nationwide.

Once you have entered your zip code, you'll see a list of stores that partner with Shipt to offer free delivery. Seeing as I live in Minneapolis, I have access to 13 stores in total.

From here, you'll need to enter your Visa credit card number. From there, Shipt will automatically assign your benefits based on the type of Visa card you have.

Since I hold the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, which is a Visa Infinite card, I now have a free membership through Dec. 31, 2024!

Other Things to Consider

Before you take advantage of this great partnership to get free membership of Shipt delivery service, there are a few things you'll want to consider.

First, Shipt memberships renew automatically. That means if you have a Visa Infinite card, you will automatically be billed the $99 annual membership fee on your first renewal date after Dec. 31, 2024. If you don't want to renew, be sure to set a reminder in your calendar to cancel beforehand. Memberships can easily be canceled anytime in the Shipt mobile app.

Next, while Shipt membership offers free delivery on orders of at least $35, you'll be charged a delivery fee of $7 if your order doesn't meet that threshold. And while your delivery might be free, you'll want to make sure to tip your Shipt driver for shopping for and delivering your order. This is available in the app on the final checkout screen.

Finally, if you already have a Shipt membership, you will not be eligible for these promotional benefits through Visa. You'll first need to cancel your existing membership and then resubscribe with your Visa card using the method above.

I used Shipt for the first time just yesterday and I was a huge fan. My groceries were delivered to my front steps within just a few hours of placing the order.

  • When I attempted to go to Shipt.com, I received an error message stating access is denied. I can’t seem to take advantage of this perk, which is disappointing.
