Earning points when you pay rent with Bilt Rewards? Now you can earn extra points every time you get in a Lyft, too.
Lyft and Bilt Rewards launched a new partnership Wednesday, March 8, allowing all Bilt Rewards members to earn 2x Bilt points for every dollar spent on Lyft rides. All you need to do is link your accounts in the Bilt app, then select Bilt as your preferred rewards program.
But it gets better if you hold the *Bilt Mastercard*. Bilt cardholders will earn a total of 5x points per dollar spent. And according to Bilt, you'll earn points on the entire ride – including taxes and tips.
Earning Bilt points on Lyft rides means you'd have to give up earning Delta SkyMiles or Hilton Honors points, as you can only pick one. But considering how much more valuable Bilt points are – you can transfer them to Alaska Airlines, United, and even Hyatt – this should be a no-brainer.
Let's walk through everything you need to know about this new partnership – including getting it set up and linking your Bilt and Lyft accounts.

How to Link Your Bilt & Lyft Accounts
First things first: You need to link your Bilt Rewards and Lyft accounts to take advantage of this new partnership.
To get started, head to the Bilt Rewards app and click on the “Rideshare” tab.
From here, you'll see a button you can click to “Link Lyft account.” That will open up a new tab, asking you to “Confirm & link accounts.” As long as the phone number associated with both your Lyft and Bilt account matches, you shouldn't have any issues.
Clicking the “Confirm & link accounts” button will automatically open the Lyft app. Once you hit the “Accept” button within the Lyft app, you're done. You should earn Bilt points on your next ride with Lyft.
You Can Only Choose One Rewards Program to Earn Bonus Points
While this is a great new partnership and a great way to earn additional Bilt Rewards points, it does come with some considerations.
Primarily, Lyft currently has partnerships with Delta Air Lines, Hilton Honors, and Alaska Airlines that allow you to earn bonus miles or points on your Lyft rides. But you can't earn points in multiple programs. You can only choose just one partnership to earn bonus miles or points.
Here are the other options:
Delta SkyMiles
- When you link your Delta and Lyft accounts, you can earn 2x SkyMiles per dollar spent on Lyft rides to the airport in the U.S.
- You'll earn 1x SkyMile per dollar spent on all other Lyft rides in the U.S.
- These bonus miles are in addition to any points and miles you are earning from the credit card used to pay for the ride.
Hilton Honors
- When you link your Hilton and Lyft accounts, you'll earn 3x Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on private Lyft rides in the U.S.
- You'll earn 2x Hilton Honors points per dollar spent on shared Lyft rides in the U.S.
- These bonus miles are in addition to any points and miles you are earning from the credit card used to pay for the ride.
- These earning rates are capped at up to 10,000 points per calendar year.
Alaska Mileage Plan
- You'll earn 1x Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan mile per dollar spent on all Lyft rides in the U.S. and Canada.
- These bonus miles are in addition to any points and miles you are earning from the credit card used to pay for the ride.
But to us, Bilt Rewards is far and away the best option here. To change which program you are earning bonus points in, simply go to the “Rewards” tab in your Lyft account.
Bottom Line
Bilt Rewards program members can now earn 2x points per dollar spent on Lyft rides. If you hold the *Bilt Mastercard*, you'll earn an additional 3x points per dollar spent on Lyft rides for a total of 5x points per dollar spent.
But if your Lyft account is already linked with another program to earn Delta SkyMiles, Hilton Honors points, or Alaska Mileage Plan miles, you'll have to give that up: You can only earn points with one program on each Lyft ride.
