American Express is officially adding AI to the growing list of perks on its business cards.
Starting today, *biz platinum* and the *biz gold* now offer up to $300 per calendar year in statement credits for U.S. ChatGPT Business subscriptions. Enrollment is required first, so don’t change your payment method or sign up expecting the credit without activating the benefit first.
But unlike many Amex credits that trickle out month by month, this one is refreshingly straightforward: Cardholders can use it all at once on either monthly or annual subscriptions.
That’s especially useful because ChatGPT Business costs roughly $300 per user annually, with a minimum of two users. That means this credit won’t cover an entire subscription, but it can offset a meaningful chunk of the cost upfront instead of forcing cardholders to manage yet another monthly coupon-book benefit.
For small business owners already experimenting with AI tools – whether for writing marketing emails, summarizing meetings, analyzing spreadsheets, customer support, or automating repetitive tasks – this is an easy way to lower the cost of bringing AI into day-to-day operations.
If you're not currently using AI, the timing of this rollout could work especially well for any business looking to give it a go. Since this credit runs on the calendar year – instead of cardmember year – you could use it to try out a ChatGPT Business subscription for nearly a year, while paying next to nothing out of pocket. With a two-user minimum, you'd be looking at a cost of approximately $50 per month. That means this new credit would cover all but one month before renewing again in 2027.
Add in both cards' recently increased welcome offers, and this new credit could make picking up one of these otherwise pricey cards even more worth it.
On the flip side, if you're not interested in using AI, this is just one more niche credit that goes unused – adding to the ever-growing list of benefits cardholders have to actively manage to justify these cards’ rising annual fees.

Bottom Line
Amex officially added up to $300 in statement credits per year for U.S. ChatGPT Business subscriptions to its Business Platinum and Business Gold cards.
If your business is already using ChatGPT Business, this should be an easy win. For everyone else, it’s just another credit to keep track of … and a clear step in Amex’s ongoing shift toward stacking niche, third-party credits onto its cards.
