On Wednesday, Delta Air Lines officially released its new Delta Sky Club bar menu with new cocktails, spirits, and a handful of new wines. But one change to the menu stands out above the rest – Dom Pérignon champagne is no longer available at any Delta Sky Club.
For years, Dom Pérignon was the prized possession of the Sky Club's premium wine list – allowing guests to purchase a bottle for $195 or a glass for $39. But Delta also allows guests to use their SkyMiles loyalty program to purchase premium beverages at the Sky Club bar. Dom was no exception.
Even after a recent devaluation when using SkyMiles to buy champagne, it was still a great deal. Sky Club guests could purchase a bottle of Dom Pérignon for 13,000 SkyMiles or a glass for only 2,600 miles.
Delta has replaced Dom with Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame which costs $249 per bottle or 16,600 SkyMiles. There is no option to buy La Grande Dame by the glass.
Delta has also added Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé which will cost $120 per bottle or 8,000 SkyMiles. Again, according to the new menu, there is no option to buy the Veuve Clicquot Rosé by the glass.

News of this change first popped up on a FlyerTalk thread earlier this month when a reader shared that a SkyClub manager indicated Dom Pérignon was leaving the premium beverage menu at all SkyClubs in September, and the entire menu was undergoing a significant overhaul.
A Delta spokesperson declined to comment on the news at the time, but the new menu released today makes this official.
But news of this shakeup shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Late last year, warning signs were flashing about a looming champagne shortage that was only expected to get worse after the New Year holiday.
Per the Washington Post, the Champagne region of France has seen reduced yields in the past few years, mostly because of poor growing conditions, and complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Couple that with the fact that we are simply consuming more champagne and demand has far outpaced supply.
According to the article, severely reduced production in 2020 and 2021 is being felt in the market. And because most champagne houses age their wines two to four years in a bottle, it's a problem that can't be fixed overnight.
Further, Wine Mag outlines that 2021 was especially unprecedented in the Champagne region. Weather issues caused producers to lose more than half of their vines, and the harvest was the smallest in decades.
When supply issues arise, and demand doesn't change, it drives prices higher. And Dom Pérignon, along with other premium champagnes are likely feeling most of that pressure.

So with Dom out, what is Delta adding to their champagne list in the Sky Club?
