Black Friday 2023 is here. And with travel back in full swing after a few tough years, companies are offering their usual dizzying array of promotions and discounts.

Airlines are out with some solid discounts on fares from the U.S., whether you're looking to fly domestically or jet off worldwide. You can snag some solid discounts on hotel stays and gift cards, too.

But beware: Just because it's Black Friday doesn't mean you're getting the best deal possible. Black Friday flight deals are more marketing gimmicks than reality. You can find dirt-cheap flights any day of the year – and the best deals are rarely advertised through big discounts or promotions like this.

So check out some of these deals, but do your homework, too. This list is sure to grow, so be sure to circle back throughout the day!

Airfare Deals

Aer Lingus

Ireland's Aer Lingus is cutting prices on select flights across the pond to mark the occasion, with 100 euro ($109 USD) discounts on roundtrip economy fares to both Dublin (DUB), Shannon (SNN), and even Manchester (MAN) – or 200 euro ($218 USD) flying Aer Lingus business class.

You'll find these discounted rates from a handful of Aer Lingus routes between Europe and the U.S. The lower pricing is already reflected in what you find by searching through Aer Lingus – or even by searching with Google Flights. Book directly with Aer Lingus to get the discount.

With those discounts, that means you could book roundtrip flights to Dublin as low as $420 or so roundtrip in economy.

These savings are available on flights from Dec. 1 through March 14, 2024. But you have to book by midnight next Monday, Nov. 27, to get these rates.

Check it out on the Aer Lingus site.

Air Tahiti Nui

Air Tahiti Nui is doing something entirely different for Black Friday, and it could be your ticket to a cheap trip to Tahiti. And New Zealand. Oh, and Tokyo and Paris, too.

The French Polynesian airline is selling its first-ever Tiare Pass, giving you four round-trip tickets from either Los Angeles (LAX) or Seattle (SEA) to all four of the airline's international destinations for a flat total of $1,525. That gets you a free checked bag on every flight, plus all the usual free meals and drinks.

It's valid for travel from Dec. 1 through Dec. 1, 2024.

But it's not on sale just yet, so set your alarms: The Tiare pass will go on sale this Saturday, Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. PST. And only 250 passes are available, so you may need to act fast.

Alaska Airlines

Alaska is offering buy-one, get-one fares for a warm-weather getaway this winter.

Bahamas? Check. Mexico? Check? Belize, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, too? Check, check, and check. This BOGO special from Alaska can get you to some of the best destinations for half-off using promo code BFBOGO2023 at checkout.

Avianca LifeMiles

It may not be a Black Friday promotion, per se … but it could be a great deal nonetheless.

Avianca LifeMiles is an underrated airline mileage program and one of the few where it can make sense to buy miles in bulk. And that's especially true when LifeMiles offers a bonus this big: Up to 165% bonus miles when you buy 21,000 LifeMiles or more.

That's one of the biggest bonuses we've seen when buying LifeMiles to date, and it can be extremely lucrative – but only if you do your homework. You'll need to register for this promotion via One Mile at a Time first, then you should see the bonuses reflected when you go to purchase LifeMiles.

This big mileage sale ends Dec. 5.

With a 165% bonus, buying 50,000 miles (for $1,650) would net you a grand total of 132,500 Avianca LifeMiles. That works out to 1.25 cents apiece, which is about as good as it gets when you can redeem these miles for Lufthansa First Class, EVA Air business class, and many more.

Register and buy LifeMiles for an up to 165% bonus!

Delta is getting in on the shopping season action, too. And it's a mixed bag.

You'll find plenty of fares already available on Delta's Black Friday Flight Deals page, with results tailored to your home airport. There are some decent deals whether you're using cash or Delta SkyMiles, though nothing earth-shattering.

But Delta Vacations has a potentially far more lucrative Black Friday deal. Current SkyMiles members can save up to $300 on a packaged flight and hotel vacation this winter to Hawaii, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Just book by Nov. 30 with promo code SMBF300 at DeltaVacations.com.

That could be a boon for frequent Frontier flyers, but consider yourself warned: There are some major restrictions on using these passes, including:

  • You can only book domestic flights one day prior to travel (or 10 days for international) if there's room on the plane for you.
  • You'll still be on the hook for $.01 in airfare plus all the taxes and fees on each ticket.

Qatar Airways is getting in on the Black Friday action once again with promo codes for some decent savings.

You can always count on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) for a good deal across the Atlantic, and Black Friday is no different.

The carrier is teasing even cheaper fares for Black Friday – or as they call it, Black Flyday. We're seeing roundtrip fares from the U.S. to Scandinavia and throughout Europe in the $400s from many cities, and sometimes in the $300s.

TAP Air Portugal

Portugal's flag carrier has cemented its place as one of the cheapest ways to get to Europe. And it doesn't get much cheaper than this.

The airline is advertising sub-$500 roundtrip fares from across the U.S. to destinations all over Europe. Want to fly business class instead? No problem: You can find fares for a trip in 2024 for as low as $1,245 in TAP Air business class. That's a pretty great deal.

You'll have to book by Tuesday, Nov. 28 to get these low rates. And while TAP's reputation isn't the best – especially on the customer service front – we've found it's a nice experience no matter whether you're flying a cheap economy fare or up in business class.

Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines flies to more destinations around the world than any other carrier. Their Black Friday sale could get you a decent discount no matter where you're heading.

The Turkish flag carrier has a long list of discounted routes available, whether you're looking to fly nonstop to Istanbul (IST) or connect onward throughout Europe, the Middle East, or onward to Africa and Asia. The prices for roundtrip fares dip as low as $619 in Turkish economy, which is about as good as it gets.

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic has a cheeky sale for travelers who are looking to burn some Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points for a trip next year.

The airline has slashed award rates by 33% whether you're flying economy across the Atlantic or splurging for a lie-flat seat. That brings one-way economy rates as low as 6,700 points or just 31,800 points for business class redemptions. Only Virgin Atlantic award tickets are eligible – not partner bookings on airlines like Delta or All Nippon Airways.

The savings here are nothing to scoff at, but there's a big caveat. While award rates have been slashed by 33%, you'll still be on the hook for all the taxes and fees … and those can be substantial when booking with Virgin. Still, you can easily come out way ahead – especially on a one-way flight in economy to London-Heathrow (LHR).

You'll see the discounts applied automatically when you search for award tickets at VirginAtlantic.com. For example, this one-way ticket from New York City (JFK) to London is typically 10,000 miles each way.
