If your flight out of Denver's Concourse A smelled a little more like seasoned beef and nacho cheese Tuesday morning, there's an explanation for that.

Denver International Airport (DEN) officially opened a Taco Bell Cantina near Gate A49, marking the first-ever airport location for Taco Bell's boozy fast-food concept. The restaurant opened Tuesday morning with a steady stream of curious travelers already lining up for Crunchwraps, tacos, and cheesy comfort food before takeoff.

Unlike a standard Taco Bell, the Cantina concept serves alcoholic beverages alongside the usual menu of Mexican(ish)-inspired fast food. According to a tweet from Denver Airport, alcohol sales won't begin until later this summer, however. Once the booze starts flowing, the Cantina plans to serve alcoholic drinks daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

Baja Blast

The restaurant features limited seating and the modern purple-lit aesthetic Taco Bell has rolled out at many of its Cantina locations across the country. But this DEN outpost is unique in the fact that no other Taco Bell Cantina has ever opened inside an airport before.

That makes Denver the first place travelers can realistically pair a delayed boarding announcement with a tequila-spiked Baja Blast Twisted Freeze or wash down a pair of Doritos Locos Tacos before a cross-country flight. Honestly, it feels a little inevitable.

Bottom Line

Denver Airport has officially opened the first-ever Taco Bell Cantina in an airport, and honestly, we couldn't be more here for it.

Taco Bell's boozy offshoot brand has never graced an airport concourse until now, giving travelers through DEN's Concourse A a first-of-its-kind pre-flight dining option. The alcohol isn't flowing just yet, but once it does later this summer, Denver travelers may have a new favorite way to kill time before boarding.
