The best part about the all the benefits and credits that debuted today on *amex platinum* is that new and existing customers get access to all the updated perks right away. The same is true for *biz platinum* and all of its new perks.
And luckily for all of us, that includes the new mirror card design that I am having shipped to my house in a few days.
When you sign up for the new Platinum Card for the first time, you're prompted to choose your card design – whether that's the classic look, two of the artist-inspired cards, or even the new, limited-edition mirror version. For existing users, you have to go request a replacement card, as it's not heading your way automatically.
The mirrored card look is literally just a shiny new toy. There's nothing about this card that differs from the normal Amex Platinum, except for the super glossy finish. But if you're into that sort of thing (and I am), it's completely free for existing users to ask for the new design on Amex's website and app. Best of all: Your card number stays the same and you can continue using it as normal until the new one arrives!
We discussed whether or not we're excited about the mirror finish (and updated perks) on this week's episode of the Thrifty Traveler Podcast and – spoiler alert – two of the three of us are!
Here's how to get the new, limited-edition mirror Platinum Card.

How to Get the New Mirror Amex Platinum Card
You can do this on both the Amex app and on American Express's website. On the app, it's very easy, once you tap on your card, you'll see this button to “Replace Your Card” right on the front page.
Once you tap that button, you'll be prompted to pick a reason for your replacement, which replacement you'd like, and then you'll get some shipping confirmation notices. You can do it in about four taps.
On the Amex website, it's equally easy, but the “Replace a Card” button is a little harder to find.
First, navigate to “Account Services” in the menu bar, and then select “Card Management” below that.
There, you'll see a big box for “Manage This Card” and you'll select the very first option: “Replace a Card.”
You don't have to have damaged or lost your Platinum Card to get the new design, you can simply select “I want to change my Card's design” from the options you get on the next screen.
Notably, Amex lets you know that your existing card will continue to work while they ship the new one.
Now the fun part! On this page, you can select if you want a metal or recycled plastic card, and choose from the four designs. I, of course, chose the mirror card.
After pressing continue, I was taken to this confirmation page that reminded me what design I chose, confirmed my shipping address, and gave me an expected delivery date of Oct. 2 – more than two weeks from now. Not that speedy for First Class Mail. Ouch.
Finally, Amex gave me this confirmation notice, along with an email confirmation that my card request is being processed.
I also get this message on the Amex app and featured prominently on the website when I log in as well. Amex is keen to let me know that my new card is on the way!
Bottom Line
If this mirrored version of the Platinum Card from American Express is something of interest to you, it's easy to get one for free with just a few taps or clicks.
Through Amex's website or app, getting the new mirror Platinum Card is a breeze!
