After a major update (and yet another annual fee increase), the laundry list of credits on *amex platinum* is longer than ever. There's hundreds of dollars to save on luxury hotels, dining, airport security services, fitness gear, and more – all on different schedules that might expire monthly, quarterly, or once or twice a year.

It's up to you to use them all and recoup that hefty annual fee … or lose them. We're here to help.

We put together a handy spreadsheet to track all things on your Amex Platinum Card in one place. Best of all, it's completely free to download and use!

With an annual fee of $895 (see rates & fees), getting organized is more important than ever. This spreadsheet makes that easy: Just mark each credit as you're done throughout each year! Plus, there are a handful of neat features you won't find in other tools, including:

  • You'll get a clear warning as each credit is approaching its expiration date! Unused credits will turn orange when they're set to expire within the next 30 days – or red when you've got just two weeks to put them to use before they disappear.
  • The spreadsheet will automatically tally up the total value you've gotten as you mark each credit as used and turn green at the top once you've recouped your entire annual fee.
  • You can even adjust the value of each credit if they're not worth the sticker price to you. For example, I don't value a CLEAR® Plus subscription at anywhere near the full $209 – I'll probably mark that closer to $100, maybe even less.

Is it a bit ridiculous that it practically requires a spreadsheet like this to get the most out of a travel credit card? It sure is. But here we are.

We've called out Amex for the over-the-top “Extreme Couponing” mentality that has spread to more and more of its travel credit cards … to no avail. This latest Platinum Card update proves once and for all that it's here to stay.

We might not be able to get Amex to change their ways – but at least we can help you out a little bit.

Bottom Line

The latest changes to the Platinum Card make it more important than ever to get organized and track the ever-growing list of money-saving credits to ensure you're getting what you're paying (even more) for. That's what we built this new – and free! – spreadsheet for.
