Cathay Pacific will start – or restart, rather – nonstop flights between Seattle (SEA) and Hong Kong (HKG) next March, the airline announced on Monday.

The airline plans to begin service March 30, flying five times a week on one of its newer Airbus A350-900s with economy, premium economy, and business class seats onboard – but not Cathay's vaunted first class cabin. The route will run across the Pacific Ocean on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

It's not a brand-new route for Cathay. The airline previously flew between Seattle and Hong Kong in 2019 and briefly in 2020 before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Delta also offered nonstop service between the two cities from 2014 to 2018.

Tickets are already up for sale, and new routes are often a goldmine for award availability to score otherwise hard-to-book seats with points and miles. This was no exception.

First thing Monday morning, we sent our Thrifty Traveler Premium members some incredibly rare award availability to book Cathay Pacific business class. Best of all, it wasn't just bookable with Cathay's own Asia Miles program but also using American AAdvantage miles and Alaska Atmos Rewards points – something we've seen just once or twice in the last five years!

Once it begins, it'll be Cathay's 10th route to North America. Currently, the airline flies to Boston (BOS), Chicago-O'Hare (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), New York City (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR).

Bottom Line

Cathay Pacific is adding its 10th North American destination with nonstop service to and from Seattle (SEA) and Hong Kong (HKG) next spring.

The new route begins in late March 2026, running five times a week on an A350-900.
