These days, it's not a matter of if your premium travel card comes with a slew of statement credits, but how many of them are there … and how often do they reset?

The strategy is clear: The banks have loaded up their priciest cards with use-them-or-lose-them statement credits to justify the ever-rising annual fees. Make good use of them all, and you can come out ahead. But forget to use one or two, and you're leaving money on the table.

Thankfully, there's a new website that can help you make sure at least a few of them don't go to waste. It's called UseYourCredits, and it's quickly become a go-to resource for identifying restaurants where you can use the up to $400 Resy dining credit on the American Express Platinum Card® and the up to $300 Chase Dining credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

Keeping track of all the credits on just one card can feel like a full-time job – never mind trying to juggle two or three of them. That's where tools like our free credit tracking sheet and UseYourCredits come into play. With one – or better yet, both – of these in your arsenal, you can make sure you're getting full value out of your pricey travel cards and beat the banks at their own game.

Read on for everything you need to know about these new dining credits and how to make sure you never let them go to waste.

A Brief Overview of Amex and Chase's Dining Credits

Before we get into how you can use this site to help you maximize your Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve dining credits, let's back up a bit and cover the basics first. Between the two cards, there are a few key distinctions that you first need to be aware of before you head out for a night on the town.

American Express Platinum Card® Resy Credit

For those unfamiliar, Resy is a restaurant reservation platform available through its website and mobile app. Restaurants partner with Resy to power their reservations system and other parts of their operation.

American Express acquired Resy back in 2019, and the bank has slowly been integrating the platform into its cards and services over the past couple of years. It started with the refreshed Delta SkyMiles portfolio of cards in early 2024, spread to the dining-focused American Express® Gold Card later that year, and now, more recently, these credits became available on the refreshed Platinum Card.

With the Amex Platinum, you get up to $400 per year in Resy dining credit – split up into quarterly chunks of up to $100 each. Just know, if you don't use one of your quarterly credits, it won't rollover to the next three month period. But don't worry, UseYourCredits helps you make sure that won't happen (more on how it works below).

Amex Platinum $400 Resy Credit

To use this credit, you'll first need to enroll in the benefit in your Amex account online or in the mobile app. You can do this by logging into your Amex account online and navigating to the “rewards & benefits” section – or by going to “membership” in the mobile app.

You only need to enroll once, and after you do, you're all set – dine out at any U.S. Resy restaurant and use your Amex Platinum to pay the bill. You'll automatically be credited up to $100 each quarter. It's as simple as that.

Even though Resy's platform encourages you to make a reservation through the app, you're not required to for the credit to work. If you spend money at any U.S. Resy partner restaurant, American Express should recognize the charge and issue your statement credit a few days later.

Chase Sapphire Reserve® Dining Credit

Following the Sapphire Reserve's most recent refresh, cardholders now get up to $300 in statement credits each year for dining purchases. But the credit comes with two important twists:

  • It’s split in half: You get up to $150 back from January through June, and another $150 from July through December. You can’t spend it all at once.
  • It only works at restaurants that offer Sapphire Reserve exclusive tables through OpenTable’s Sapphire Reserve Dining Collection.

If you dine at one of these exclusive tables with your Sapphire Reserve, Chase will automatically apply statement credits until you hit the $150 cap for that six-month window. The benefit then resets for the next half of the year.

As of publication, Sapphire Reserve exclusive tables are only available in select U.S. cities, including:

ChicagoLas AngelesPhiladelphiaWashington, D.C.

The list of eligible cities is much smaller than what you'll get with Amex's Resy credits, and the total number of restaurants is also tiny in comparison. UseYourCredits lists just shy of 300 eligible restaurants for the Chase dining credit, compared to 10,000-plus Resy eligible dining options.

If you don't live in a city on this list or just prefer a variety of options, the Amex Platinum Card's dining credit is the far superior choice.

How UseYourCredits Can Help

In my opinion, the site's most valuable resource is the interactive maps that show you exactly where you can find eligible restaurants for both the Amex Resy credit and Sapphire Reserve dining credit. Best of all, you don't need to have an account or pay for premium features in order to use this feature.

Simply head to UseYourCredits website and click on “maps” at the top to begin your search.

From here, you can see the total number of restaurants available for each of these credits and access an interactive map for each list.

Using Minneapolis as an example, you can quickly see that 92 Resy participating restaurants are in the area where the Amex Platinum's new credit will work – and perhaps more importantly, 45 offer online gift card purchases. This means if time is winding down and you haven't already used your quarterly Resy credit, you could purchase a gift card online to make sure it doesn't go to waste – and then use that gift card whenever you like.

Restaurants that sell gift cards online are clearly noted in the list of eligible restaurants alongside the map, and UseYourCredits even provides a direct link to make the purchase.

It (mostly) works the same way when you choose the interactive map for Chase's Sapphire Reserve exclusive tables. Again, using Minneapolis as an example, the interactive map shows all the available restaurants in the area. Given Chase's much more limited list of options, there are only three restaurants in the Minneapolis area that qualify.

Unfortunately, the Chase map doesn't show restaurants where online gift card purchases are eligible – and that's likely by design. The terms state gift card purchases are ineligible for receiving the Sapphire Reserve's new dining credit. But in practice, we've seen reports from some who have made in-person purchases and still had it work. While this no doubt requires more work, it's worth a try if your credit would otherwise go to waste.

One final word of caution: Whether you're dining out or purchasing a gift card online, I wouldn't wait until the last minute to use this credit. Be sure to give yourself a day or two of buffer in case it doesn't post to your account right away. If you cut it too close, you could risk inadvertently using next quarter's credit instead.

Other UseYourCredits Features

While using the interactive map to find eligible restaurants is entirely free, UseYourCredits also offers some additional features that are super useful. If you create an account, you can add up to three credit cards to your profile, and it will list all the statement credits that are available on your cards.

As you use them, you can hit “mark used” and it will automatically tally up the value you've received from your card for the year under “usage snapshot.”

If you have more than three cards you'd like to track, there's also a “pro” version of UseYourCredits. For $1.99 per month or $15.99 per year, you can get unlimited card tracking, email notifications when benefits are expiring, and an advanced tracking dashboard.

Best of all, you'll get a 14-day free trial no matter which subscription tier you choose, so there's little risk in trying it out!

Bottom Line

Premium credit card perks can be quite lucrative … but only if you actually use them. With cards like the Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve, dining credits are now split across quarters or half-years – making it easy to forget and lose value.

Tools like UseYourCredits help cardholders find eligible restaurants and ensure no credits go unused, turning confusing benefits into real savings.
