Is New Zealand on your bucket list? Well, it should be … especially now.
A combination of cheap flights and an excellent new offer from Capital One Travel for cardholders means you can get all the way from the U.S. to Auckland (AKL) for as little as $371 roundtrip! But this deal gets even better if you haven't yet used the $300 Capital One Travel credit on your *venture x*.
By stacking that with this $300-off “coupon” and the already low fares, you can score a roundtrip to New Zealand for just $71 out of pocket. Considering these economy class fares regularly go for $1,000 (or more) roundtrip, this could prove to be a deal too good to pass up.
While we typically urge travelers to steer clear of third-party booking portals (like Capital One Travel) whenever possible and book direct with the airline instead, these absurd savings are well worth it.
Thanks to reader Matt H. for putting us onto this deal!
How to Double (Or Triple Stack) Your Way to $71 Flights
So how does this deal work?
It all starts with a $300 savings on select flights to New Zealand. This offer specifically applies to bookings made through Capital One Travel on Qantas (or its partners, such as American Airlines) for flights between the U.S. and New Zealand. You'll need to book (not travel) before Dec. 31, 2025, to take advantage … but there's always the chance that Capital One pulls it sooner than that, so I wouldn't wait too long.
You'll see the savings apply to bookings in any cabin, but of course, you'll find the lowest rates in economy.
Just note: This $300 travel offer isn't per passenger. That means if you're planning to bring a friend (or the whole family), you won't be able to score these rock-bottom rates for each and every one of you. If you and your favorite travel buddy both have Venture Cards, it could be well worth booking separately to each score a discount.

No matter if you have the flagship Venture X or the tried-and-true *capital one venture card*, you should see this offer available to you when logged into Capital One Travel.
There's a chance it's targeted, but every member of the Thrifty Traveler team with a Venture (or Venture X) Card sees it, so you likely will too. To find available Capital One Travel offers, click this box in the top right corner of the main search menu.
Or, simply start searching for flights to New Zealand, and you should see it displayed on Qantas and American flights in the results.
To find the lowest fares, you'll need to fly from a city like Los Angeles (LAX) or Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). But with prices like these, it could be well worth booking a cheap positioning flight to take advantage of this deal.
If your dates are flexible, I recommend starting your search with Google Flights to help zero in on the lowest fares from multiple cities. When it comes time to book, you'll need to switch over to Capital One Travel and re-create the search, but Google's flexible dates search will make finding the lowest prices a lot easier.
For example, here's a nonstop itinerary from Los Angeles to Auckland for just $672 roundtrip … and that's before applying the $300 travel offer.
When you get to the final checkout screen, you'll see the price drops to just $371 and change with that coupon applied – or even less, if you're also applying your Venture X's annual travel credit.
You'll also find this offer available on Qantas' ultra-long haul flights from New York (JFK). The price starts higher at $1,174 roundtrip, but after applying the $300 travel offer, it drops the total to just $874. Throw in a $300 Venture X travel credit, and you're down to $574.
There are other deals to be had from smaller cities, too. For example, take this one-stop itinerary from Sioux Falls (FSD) in South Dakota. These flights on American Airlines price out at $1,060 for the roundtrip ride in economy.
But after applying the $300 travel offer at checkout, that price drops to just $760 … or less with the Venture X's travel credit. You'll be hard-pressed to find a cheaper flight to Oceania than this from a small airport like that.
To sweeten the deal even further, the Capital One Venture X earns 5x miles per dollar spent on flights booked through Capital One Travel. That means you'll be earning up to 2,000 miles (or more) on your booking.
If you don't already have a Venture X and are hoping to take advantage of this offer before it's gone, now is a great time to add it to your wallet. You can currently earn bonus_miles_full.

Bottom Line
You won't find a cheaper way to get to New Zealand
Capital One Travel is offering a $300 discount on select flights to New Zealand, which you can stack with the Venture X card’s $300 annual travel credit. With already low fares from cities like LAX or DFW, some travelers can get all the way to Auckland for as little as $71 out of pocket.
Considering these flights typically cost $1,000 or more, this is an exceptional opportunity to book a bucket-list trip at a deep, deep discount.

It’s targeted. I have the $300 travel credit but do not have $300 travel offer for New Zealand. Bummer 😞
is this offer for select accounts? I dont see that offer in my account?
Jackson Newman is a moron. The travel credit is not a “discount” and it’s a ridiculous clickbait headline.
If I take $300 from my left hand, move it to my right hand, then spend it on my flight, I haven’t “saved $300” on my flight. I’m simply spending my own money.
You unlock the $300 travel credit by paying the $395 annual fee…
Of course, $71 tickets will get more clicks than $371 tickets
But you actually took $395 from your left hand and gave it to Capital One the minute you paid the annual fee. In order to get $300 of it back, you have to book something through the bank’s travel portal. If you don’t use it, that money stays in Capital One’s wallet.
The headline price is accurate, and the parentheses are there for a reason. It’s possible to book flights to Auckland for as low as $71 by stacking this offer with the card’s travel credit.
By that same logic you could pick any flight in America below $300 roundtrip and go “Wow, look at this deal, you can go here for only $0!! Since when do we get free flights!!”
I agree … but that’s never a story we’re going to write.
This story was about $371 flights to New Zealand. Can we agree that’s a good deal?
Stacking the Capital One Travel offer with the Venture X’s $300 travel credit brought the price down to $71 out-of-pocket. That part is secondary to the flight deal itself, which is why it’s in parentheses. To get the annual credit, you would have already paid Capital One your annual fee. Until you book something – this flight or whatever – it’s no longer your money.
We’re probably not going to agree on whether it’s a $371 or $71 flight … and that’s fine. I still think it was a story worth telling.
