American Express has rolled out a new targeted Amex Offer for Airbnb, and it’s a solid one for travelers already planning a stay.
Add this offer to your eligible Amex card, spend $250 or more with Airbnb, and you’ll earn 5,000 bonus Membership Rewards points as long as you complete the purchase by May 5, 2026. That’s on top of the points you’d normally earn for the purchase – making this a pretty easy win if you’ve got an Airbnb booking coming up anyway.
You don’t need to complete the spending requirement in a single transaction either. One or more Airbnb purchases can count toward the $250 minimum, as long as they post to your card before the deadline. You can even use this to book an Airbnb Experience – a separate service offered by the popular homestay company, which allows you to book top-rated tours, activities, day trips, and other experiences guided by locals.
This Amex Offer is targeted, which means it won't be available for all Amex cardholders. That said, this one appears to be pretty widely available on cards that earn Membership Rewards points. So if you've got a card like the *amex platinum*, the *amex gold*, or even a card like *blue biz plus*, you'll want to check and see if you have it, and if you see it, add it to your card quickly, as enrollment is limited and Amex Offers can disappear without warning.
If you’ve got multiple Amex cards that earn Membership Rewards points, it’s worth checking each one. Offers can show up on one card but not another, and can even differ from card to card. For example, some members of the Thrifty Traveler team were targeted for a similar offer, to earn only 3,000 points after spending $250 or more with Airbnb.

Where to Find Amex Offers
If you haven't used Amex Offers before, think of them as digital coupons exclusively for Amex cardholders for purchases like airfare or hotels, as well as dining, entertainment, or everyday shopping.
To check if you're targeted, simply log into your American Express app and click on “Offers” at the bottom of the screen.
If you're using the desktop version of the American Express website, you'll find Amex Offers about halfway down the homepage. Here, you can view all the Amex Offers that are currently available, see which ones you've already added to your card, and even review your lifetime savings with the Amex Offers program.
Just remember that if you have multiple Amex cards, you'll need to toggle through them all, as the offers can be different for each card. If you see an offer you like, simply add it to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card. You should receive a statement credit for the offer within a few days of making a purchase.
Thrifty Tip: Amex displays a maximum of 100 offers at a time. If you're not seeing the one you want, try adding a handful to your card, logging out, and then logging back in to see if you get some new ones!

Bottom Line
Amex offers are great because they’re basically free money (or in this case, points) for spending you might be doing anyhow. It's also another way to justify the cost of your credit card's annual fee. Make sure to check your various American Express credit cards, as each may offer different offers.
However, it looks like this Airbnb Amex offer is pretty widely available, making it one of our favorite money-saving strategies for lodging or experiences on an upcoming trip. These offers change almost daily, so add this one now before it disappears, and be sure to use it before the May 5 deadline.

Interesting – the offer appears on my Amex cards but in a different way – $$$ not points. And even more interesting, it appears on my cards and my wife’s cards but the amount is different (and her cards are additional cards on my account, not separate!). My cards offer $30 credit after spending $250 and her cards offer $50 for the same spending! What really surprises me is the fact that the credit amount is different – but all her cards are additional cards on my account!
As a data point, I received “Spend $250 or more, earn $50 back”.
