It’s the end of an era … and one of the best ways to use hotel points (or transferable Capital One miles and Citi points) for vacation rentals.

Wyndham Rewards just announced that its partnership with Vacasa Vacation Rentals will officially end Dec. 1, 2025, meaning you'll no longer be able to book those rental homes and properties with Wyndham points. And while there's roughly a month before that deadline, you can only book Vacasa stays with checkout dates through Jan. 31, 2026. Frequent Miler first broke the bad news.

That closes the door on one of the most underrated (and flexible) ways to use hotel points.

The partnership was first launched in 2021, providing Wyndham members with a way to redeem their points for stays at thousands of Vacasa-managed vacation homes nationwide – from cozy cabins and ski condos to beachfront escapes and family-friendly houses. Better yet: Wyndham is a Capital One transfer partner and Citi ThankYou transfer partner, too, meaning you could put your credit card points toward a fun and valuable stay.

Combined with some stellar rates – Vacasa rentals started at a flat 15,000 points per bedroom, per night – it was a hidden gem. Now, its days are numbered.

The Beginning of the End

Back in March 2024, Wyndham introduced a two-tier award system for Vacasa award redemptions:

  • 15,000 points per bedroom per night for properties with an average nightly rate of $250 or less
  • 30,000 points per bedroom per night for rentals averaging $251 to $500 per night

Even with that shift, it remained one of the best ways to use Wyndham points or transferrable credit card points – particularly for families or groups who needed more space than a traditional hotel room.

Then came another sign of trouble: Casago’s acquisition of Vacasa in May 2025. At the time, it wasn’t clear what that meant for Wyndham Rewards members, but with Casago charting its own path in the vacation rental space, the writing was on the wall. Just a few months later, Wyndham and Vacasa are going their separate ways for good.

Here’s what travelers need to know as the partnership winds down:

  • The partnership officially ends Dec. 1, 2025, so the last day to make new reservations is Nov. 30, 2025
  • Effective immediately, new reservations cannot be made with a checkout date later than Jan. 31, 2026
  • Existing reservations may be modified until Nov. 30, 2025 – but they must have a checkout date of Jan. 31 (or earlier) to be eligible for modification
  • Existing reservations with a checkout date later than Jan. 31 will still be honored but cannot be modified

The sweet spot currently allows travelers to turn Wyndham's otherwise largely lackluster hotel points into high-value vacation rentals – something few other programs do. You could book entire homes in prime destinations like Hawaii, Colorado ski towns, or the Oregon coast for far less than what you’d spend in cash.

And because Wyndham is a transfer partner of both Capital One and Citi, this wasn’t just a perk for Wyndham earners. It opened the door for travelers with Capital One miles or Citi ThankYou Points to convert their rewards into deeply discounted vacation rental stays.

Bottom Line

Wyndham’s partnership with Vacasa offered some unbeatable (and under-the-radar) value, but that's coming to an end.

The ability to book Vacasa rentals with Wyndham points ends Dec. 1 – and even now, you can only book stays through January 2026. If you’ve got Wyndham points (or transferable points from Capital One or Citi) and travel plans through January, now’s the time to lock in a Vacasa stay before this redemption disappears for good.
