Thrifty Traveler is seeking an experienced marketer to join our small-yet-growing team as our Marketing Director in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our ideal candidate is a deeply passionate traveler with a track record of executing on marketing strategy.
This isn’t just a strategy or oversight role — it’s a hands-on position for someone ready to lead through doing. You’ll collaborate directly with a Meta Ads contractor, work closely with internal team members across influencer and affiliate marketing, and help set the vision for growing the marketing team over time.

What You'll Do
- Lead and optimize email marketing campaigns — from concept to testing to performance reporting.
- Work directly with a contractor to manage Meta advertising, provide guidance, and ensure results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with team members to execute and scale affiliate and influencer marketing initiatives.
- Partner with leadership to build out the future marketing team and structure.
- Own and refine our lead generation funnels and explore new customer acquisition strategies.
- Evaluate paid campaigns across Meta, Google, podcasts, and other channels.
- Analyze performance data, uncover insights, and translate them into actionable marketing decisions.
- Shape and expand referral marketing and word-of-mouth growth strategies.
- Manage external collaborators and freelancers where needed to support execution.
- Research and experiment with new tools, AI, and automation to improve marketing performance.
- Bring big campaign ideas to life — from brainstorming to post-mortem.
What We're Looking For
- Based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area (hybrid work environment).
- 4-5 years of experience in a marketing role, with experience leading projects and/or managing people or contractors.
- Someone who thrives in a builder’s role — comfortable being hands-on and leading at the same time.
- Strong grasp of digital marketing (Meta Ads, Google Ads, email, funnel strategy, analytics).
- A sharp data mindset — you make decisions based on what the numbers say, not gut feel alone.
- Excitement for trying new tech, especially AI and automation that drives smarter marketing.
- A creative thinker who can ideate and execute campaigns from scratch.
- A team player who communicates clearly, collaborates, and fits into a passionate travel-loving culture.
- Bonus: Experience with subscription products, affiliate programs, or growth-stage companies.
