Thrifty Traveler Marketing Director: About the Job

Thrifty Traveler is seeking an experienced marketer to join our small-yet-growing team as our Marketing Director in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our ideal candidate is a deeply passionate traveler with a track record of executing on marketing strategy. 

Responsibilities will include working with our leadership team on executing a marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, digital and traditional advertising, managing email marketing campaigns, and more. They will be responsible for managing various contractors as well as working with our affiliate and influencer marketing manager. 

This role has a high potential for promotion to a senior marketing leadership position, shaping our entire strategy while building out a full marketing team.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Partner with our Affiliate and Influencer Marketing Manager to grow influencer and affiliate marketing.
  • Oversee email marketing campaigns: execution, testing, and optimization to improve open, click, and conversion rates.
  • Collaborate on and execute advertising campaigns: Meta & Google Ads, Podcast, and traditional advertising
  • Manage contractors and external partners to deliver on various marketing strategies.
  • Track and interpret marketing data, reporting insights and results to the leadership team.
  • Own and scale our referral program to increase growth through word-of-mouth.
  • Creating and executing on various marketing initiatives.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area (we have a hybrid work environment)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • 4–5 years of experience in a marketing role, with experience managing a team.
  • A genuine passion for travel — you get excited about helping others explore the world.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.
  • Thrives in a small, agile team where collaboration and ownership are key.
  • Organized, with keen attention to detail and a get-it-done attitude.
  • A creative thinker who brings fresh, innovative ideas to the table.
  • Subscription marketing experience is a plus.
  • Digital marketing experience, including web analytics, Meta Ads, and Google Ads.
  • Self-starter who can hit deadlines, lead with initiative, and hold others accountable.
  • Strong understanding of current marketing trends and practices.

 

Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000–$110,000 (negotiable based upon experience)
