Sun Country Airlines just announced two new nonstop seasonal destinations from Los Angeles (LAX) & Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota (MSP):

  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) – May 19 – August 19, 2018
  • Minneapolis (MSP) to Myrtle Beach (MYR) – April 6 – June 4, 2018

Passengers departing from Minneapolis will have a short stop in Los Angeles before continuing to Honolulu. The new service will fly four times a week, Friday through Monday. The seasonal flights will begin at $299 each way from LAX to HNL and $399 each with the connection from MSP.

The Myrtle Beach, SC service will fly twice a week, Monday and Friday, and will begin at $129 each way.

Bottom Line

The new Honolulu route is a big surprise. Flights from Los Angeles to Honolulu are already incredibly competitive with American, Alaska, Delta, Hawaiian, and United heavily competing on this route. Southwest will likely be joining in later this year. It's important to note that few of those airlines, who service that route, charge fees for bags and seats like Sun Country does. It will be interesting to see how Sun Country ultimately prices out this route.
