Qatar Airways is bringing a plane equipped with QSuites business class to Los Angeles (LAX), the latest U.S. city to get what’s undoubtedly one of the world’s best business class products.
Flights between LAX and Qatar’s Doha (DOH) hub will get their latest and greatest business class seat starting Feb. 2nd, 2019. That means you can soon fly QSuites in and out of LAX, Houston-Intercontinental (IAH), Chicago-O’Hare (ORD), New York City-JFK (JFK) and Washington-Dulles (IAD).
Mr. TT and Nick recently hopped on a QSuites flight from Doha (DOH) to Washington-Dulles (IAD) and were blown away. The closed-door suites are spacious, well-designed, stylish and insanely private. Qatar is retrofitting one of its Boeing 777-200LRs to fly on this ultra-long-haul route, which clocks in at 15-16 hours. QSuites will be a huge step up from the lackluster business class seats arranged in a 2-2-2 layout that are currently on those planes.
On the flipside, economy flyers between LAX and DOH will feel the squeeze. Qatar is following the trend (that only Delta seems to be bucking) and putting 10 economy seats in each row.
How to Book QSuites
Don’t have a stash of Qatar Airways miles? Don’t worry, booking QSuites is easy. All you need is some American Airways AAdvantage miles. Booking Qatar Airways flights is one of our favorite uses of AA miles, thanks to their partnership through the Oneworld alliance.
And it just got much easier, as you can now book these flights directly online through AA.com. For years, flyers looking to snag a spot on a Qatar plane would have to call into American Airlines.
Expect to pay 70,000 AAdvantage miles for a one-way flight in QSuites, no matter if you’re flying from LAX, IAD or ORD. And luckily, award availability to fly QSuites out of LAX is wide open.
Our Analysis
Qatar keeps bringing these unbeatable business class products to U.S. soil, and we are not mad about it. QSuites are the most innovative business class seats out there. Flying companions can share a two-seat section with a double bed. Families or business travelers can take over two rows in the center section for a four-person pod.
So any additional U.S. city with QSuites service is welcome news to us. Considering the flights between DOH and LAX are at least 15 hours, it’s a smart move by the airline.

QSuites are undeniably one of the world’s best business class seats. Their addition to LAX is not just exciting – it makes sense.
