A new quarter means a new set of Chase Freedom bonus categories. Get 5% cashback (or 5x points) at department stores and all purchases using PayPal or Chase Pay in the fourth quarter of 2019!

These offers will begin on October 1 and run through December 30, 2019, as first reported by The Points Guy. Registration for these new bonus categories will open, tomorrow, on Saturday, Sept. 14. Just head to the Chase bonus activation page.

If you aren’t familiar with the Chase Freedom credit card, it is a phenomenal cashback card with no annual fee that offers an increased cashback rate on rotating categories on a quarterly basis. But if you’re after more Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you’re in luck.

As an added bonus, if you hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve or a Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card, the cashback can be moved into your Ultimate Rewards points balance. Because of this, you would effectively be earning 5x Ultimate Rewards on the bonus categories from the Freedom card. This is a great deal and the reason I often recommend the Chase Freedom card as a complement to the Sapphire credit cards.
