Cheap flights to Japan have been hard to come by lately – it feels like everyone is heading there. Demand for Tokyo and beyond has been sky-high for the last three years, and there haven’t been many signs of it slowing down.
But that’s starting to change: A wave of exciting Japan flight deals is rolling in – in every cabin. Whether you’re looking to book with cash, put your points and miles to work, or even score a premium cabin or lie-flat seat for 2026, the deals are suddenly back in a big way.
Our Thrifty Traveler Premium flight deal analysts used to really have to grind to uncover great fares to Japan. And we always did! But now, the deals are popping up so frequently that we wanted to round up the latest and greatest here for you.
Cheap Flights to Japan
Anything less than $800 roundtrip, I would consider a good deal to fly roundtrip to Japan in economy.
But this recent sale from Hawaiian Airlines had me reconsidering everything I thought I knew to be true …
Starting at just $377 roundtrip (yes, you read that right), you could fly roundtrip to Tokyo (HND) or Osaka (KIX) in 2026, with one quick connection in Honolulu (HNL).
And even if you can't snag the lowest fares in the $300s from Seattle (SEA) and Las Vegas (LAS), several other Pacific gateways were on sale in the low $400s, too!

If you can fly nonstop to Tokyo from places like Minneapolis (MSP) for just $790 roundtrip on Delta, that's an amazing deal. But if you're hoping to upgrade your flight a little bit, you could also find an incredible deal doing just that!
Delta Premium Select, the middle cabin of Delta flights between business class and economy, is a seriously comfy way to fly across an ocean. I flew it a few years ago and loved the experience … and I paid a lot more than this!
One of the coolest parts of this deal was you could also use your Delta SkyMiles to snag these same seats – giving you a terrific option to skip paying with cash and putting those SkyMiles to work instead!

Points & Miles Deals to Japan
Because the flights are so long – and can occasionally (but not always) be so expensive – using your points and miles is a smart way to fly to Japan and back.
And while Delta will typically charge 100,000 SkyMiles (or so) roundtrip to fly to Japan, you can get rates closer to 50,000 roundtrip (or even less) if you book during one of their SkyMiles Flash Sales, !
If you have a Delta SkyMiles credit card, you can also get 15% off Delta flights booked with SkyMiles, making this an even better deal from all of these cities.
Delta isn't the only game in town, though. You can also fly American Airlines or its partner Japan Airlines using your American Airlines AAdvantage miles when AA runs flash sales of its own.
The best part about AA's sales is that every flight is priced the same. 50,000 AA miles, no matter where you live in the U.S., will get you to Tokyo and back when booked at the right time. This flight deal alerted all our members to exactly that perfect time.
Business Class Flight Deals to Japan
You can get there for 41,000 miles or $377 roundtrip, but wouldn't something more spacious and a little fancier make your 13-plus hour trip across the Pacific a little better?
I think so. That's why I like to stockpile my points and miles to fly business class to Tokyo. However, you can't simply book these whenever you want; you have to wait for the airlines to release award availability to do so.
For example, Japan Airlines (JAL) Mileage Bank recently released a ton of business class seats for travelers with JAL miles (or those with Bilt or Capital One miles that transfer into JAL's program, too!) From just 70,000 miles each way, you can make one of these suites home for the long haul to Japan.
Another airline flying to Japan from the U.S. is … Singapore Airlines?
Yes, you read that right. Singapore operates a one-off route from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo (NRT) daily, and you can book those seats using Singapore KrisFlyer miles for 104,000 miles each way.
Singapore miles can be transferred in from Amex, Capital One, Chase, or Citi, so you might be closer to that 104,000-mile mark than you think!
Remember all the ways you could use your Delta SkyMiles to fly to Tokyo? We showed you how to get there in economy and in Delta Premium Select, too. Well … let's not forget about Delta One Suites either!
Delta typically charges more (much more) than other airlines for its comfiest seats. But when Delta runs flash sales like this one, you could secure these suites starting at just 85,000 SkyMiles each way from a couple of cities. From most of Delta's other airports, the going rate was about 120,000 SkyMiles each way, which is still a great use of SkyMiles.
Last but not least is Hawaiian Airlines, which most recently started flying nonstop from the mainland U.S. to Japan.
After its merger with Alaska, the combined airline began nonstop flights from Seattle (SEA) to Tokyo (NRT), and now you can book them using Alaska's incredible Atmos Rewards program.
95,000 points each way is enough to get you there, too.

Cheap flights, low points and miles rates, and business class award availability to Japan are coming in waves recently, making it a great time to find great flight deals across the Pacific for your Japan trip.
