On the heels of announcing dedicated security lanes for traveling families, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is out with a special discount for families or travel companions to sign up for TSA PreCheck.
The agency announced Friday it'll knock $15 off the price of PreCheck for the second enrollment when two adults sign up at the same time. Since PreCheck normally costs $78 for a five-year membership, that means a couple could get signed up for a total of $141 and speed through security together on their next flight.
This discount is only available when signing up via Idemia, one of a handful of TSA enrollment providers. And it's only available to first-timers – travelers renewing their existing PreCheck accounts aren't eligible for the discount.

This $15 discount is only available for enrollments completed by Oct. 31. A few other details worth noting:
- While it's geared toward families, there's no need to prove a family relationship. That means you and your favorite travel pal could sign up together this summer or early fall to save.
- You can stack this discount for larger groups signing up together, so a group of four travelers could get a $30 discount total.
There's no need to sign up children through this offer: Minors 17 and under can already accompany a parent or guardian with PreCheck after a change last year extended that policy to teens as well as younger children.
But for a pair of adults, the time is ripe to sign up. You can take the savings even further by charging the registration fee to one of many travel credit cards that covers the cost of enrollment, including the *capital one venture card*.
The TSA has been on a tear lately, ending its shoes-off screening policy for all passengers earlier in July and hinting at relaxing its carry-on liquid limit, too. But in our mind, nothing makes your travel days better than PreCheck. It's one of our travel must-haves.
Bottom Line
If you and your spouse or go-to travel pal don't already have TSA PreCheck, now's the time.
