Hyatt is on a tear recently adding to its portfolio of excellent all-inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. After folding in nearly 60 all-inclusive resorts to the list, the hotel chain has officially announced yet another property near Cancún will open by the end of the year.

Hyatt is set to officially open the new, adults-only Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya on Dec. 1, 2022. Located just north of Playa del Carmen and roughly 40 minutes south of the Cancún (CUN) airport, this latest Hyatt all-inclusive property is taking over from the former Secrets Capri Riviera Cancún resort.

Reservations are already open, and to kick things off, Hyatt is offering an opening special starting at just $149 per night, per person. Though to get that rate of $299, you must be booking for two people. I didn't see the $149 per night available when booking for just one person.

These rates are available for stays from Dec. 1 through Jan. 31, 2023, so long as you book through Hyatt by June 30, 2022.

Bookings using World of Hyatt points are not yet available on Hyatt's website, but it's safe to assume that it will cost 25,000 points per night. Once award bookings go live, that rate could cost more or fewer points depending on the time of your stay thanks to Hyatt's new peak and off-peak award pricing.

Here’s the new award chart for booking standard rooms at all-inclusive properties. Keep in mind suites will cost more, as will putting more than two people on your reservation.

Once it opens, the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya will be the fourth of Hyatt's fantastic Ziva and Zilara resorts in the Canc̼n area. There are the longtime Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva Canc̼n properties in the hotel zone. And just last year, Hyatt opened the new family-friendly Hyatt Ziva Riviera Canc̼n opened late last year just north of Puerto Morelos Рcloser to the Canc̼n (CUN) airport.

The news of the new Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya comes on the heels of Hyatt's recent acquisition of nearly 60 all-inclusive resorts scattered across Mexico & Latin America. The hotel chain started by adding seven properties around the Cancún area earlier this year, and last month, Hyatt followed up by adding another 52 resorts, from Mexico to Curaçao and St. Martin.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya Location

The new Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is located about 40-minutes to an hour south (depending on traffic) of the Canc̼n airport Рand roughly a 15-minute drive north of Playa del Carmen.

While this will be the fourth Hyatt all-inclusive resort in the Canc̼n area, two of the existing properties are in the Canc̼n hotel zone which is about an hour and a half north Рcloser to Canc̼n International Airport (CUN).

Our Experience with Hyatt Ziva and Zilara

When it comes to all-inclusive resorts, Hyatt just does things differently.

In our experience, the on-site restaurants offer quality food and drinks – far better than what you'll find at many all-inclusive properties. The facilities are always clean and the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay more enjoyable.

Best of all, they are some of the only all-inclusive resorts that you can book with points, starting at just 20,000 to 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night. And if you are booking your stay with points, it's quite possible to spend less money on your vacation than you might at home. That's because everything is included.

From 20,000 to 25,000 World of Hyatt points, those points each night cover your lodging, meals, drinks, and many other activities on the property.

While not much is known yet about this new property, the renderings on the hotel's new website look promising.

Bottom Line

Hyatt has officially announced the opening of the new Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya just north of Playa del Carmen in December 2022.

While the property is not yet bookable with World of Hyatt points, they are offering a grand opening special starting at just $149 per night, per person for stays from December 1 through January 2023. To get this rate, you must book by June 30 on the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya.

  • Is there a promo code that I should use to book the deal? When I go check on any of the dates, the lowest rate is at $299 per night. Thanks!

    • Hi Lani, that is the correct rate. $149 per night/per person is how they are advertising it, but you need to book for 2 to get that rate. $149 per night doesn’t appear to be available when booking for one. I have updated the post to reflect that.

  • Do you think we should we be concerned if we book this resort Jan 1st for 1 week that it will not be ready OR that some of the restaurants/services will not be open?

    • That is a full month from the listed opening date, so I think you should be ok. I booked for a similar time frame.

  • Were the buildings at “Capri” completely destoryed or were the buildings refurbished? The pictures look alot like The North Wing, The South Wing and the lobby. After 25 visits to Capri we can hardly wait to begin our visits to Hyatt Zilara Maya. The new decor is beautiful!

  • I would like to know how many points would be needed for one free night at this hotel. Could it be 25,000 which would give me 3 free nights.

    • I don’t see one on the list of restaurants. I will actually be staying there very soon to do a review, so I will no for sure then.
