Airlines, hotels, and travel companies are pulling out all the stops to keep travelers engaged while travel has slowed down. But Hyatt is truly knocking it out of the park with some lucrative promotions. And you'll love this one if you're trying to use some points for a hotel stay this fall or winter.

You can currently get up to 25% of your World of Hyatt points back on award stays through Jan. 4, 2021. Cardholders with the World of Hyatt Credit Card will get a total of 25% of their points back on every award stay, while all other Hyatt members will get 15% of their points back. Most award stays will also get free parking.

This promotion applies to nearly all properties bookable with Hyatt points, like Andaz, Thompson Hotels, and all Hyatt brands – including Park Hyatts! M Life properties on the Las Vegas Strip like the Mirage and Aria are eligible, too.

Unbelievably, so are Hyatt's outstanding all-inclusive resorts, Ziva and Zilara. And even stays booked with Points + Cash and room upgrades will earn bonus points back.

How Hyatt's Promotion Works

You won't see discounted rates when you go to book your hotel with Hyatt points – you'll see the normal rates. Instead, you'll get 15-25% of your points back through a bonus points rebate, which should hit your account within 6-8 weeks after they're used.

Let's spell this out a bit. Let's say you're booking two nights at the Park Hyatt New York. It's one of the swankiest properties in the U.S., so it costs 30,000 Hyatt points per night – or nearly $800 per night.

You'll use 60,000 points to book the two-night stay upfront. As a standard Hyatt member, you'd get 9,000 points redeposited to your account within two months of booking – reducing the cost to 25,5000 points per night, or 51,000 points total.

But if you hold the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you'd earn 15,000 points back on the same stay, bringing the cost down to 22,500 points per night – or 45,000 points total for the two-night stay.

Want to book a getaway to the beach, and stay at an all-inclusive resort? Head for Mexico, which is already welcoming U.S. travelers, and stay at a Hyatt Ziva Resort in Puerto Vallarta or Cabo San Lucas. These properties go for just 20,000 Hyatt points per night, while other locations in Cancun or the Dominican Republic cost 25,000 points per night. Either way, it's one of the best ways to book an all-inclusive resort with points.

But with this promotion, it gets even better. With the World of Hyatt Card, you could essentially book each night at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta for just 15,000 points. General Hyatt members would get a 3,000-point rebate on each night, dropping the price to 17,000 points per night.

Hyatt members can earn a total of 30,000 bonus points back per reservation, while cardholders can earn up to 60,000 points back. But there's no limit to how many points you earn back on separate award stays throughout the course of the entire promotion, so the sky is the limit.

To get in on these reduced award stays, Hyatt members can register for the promotion directly with Hyatt. World of Hyatt cardholders have a separate registration page. You have to register by Jan. 15.

Even without these rebates, Hyatt points are easily the most valuable among the hotel chain thanks to their reasonable award rates. A free night at a Hyatt property starts at just 5,000 points, and goes as high as 40,000 points – though most top out at 30,000 points per night.

This promo just makes it even more compelling.

Bottom Line

Hyatt has rolled out promos to earn triple points and cut room rates by 20% while offering free breakfast, but this might just be the greatest one yet. Use this promotion to drop the cost of your Hyatt award stays through the rest of 2020 and into early 2021!
