One of the best ways to use your Delta SkyMiles is coming to a close.
Through today, Friday, Sept. 6, you can get twice the value when using your SkyMiles to book a package of flights and hotels through Delta Vacations. That means a stash of 50,000 SkyMiles will get you $1,000 toward a vacation. That's an outstanding value, and there are plenty of ways to come out way ahead using this promotion.
From a trip abroad to a domestic getaway, you'll find you can essentially get a few nights in a hotel for free. This promotion was originally supposed to end, Friday, Aug. 30. However, Delta extended this through today, Friday, September 6 as was first reported by Frequent Miler. If you missed out on it last week, here's your last chance.
Just head to Delta's promotional page and start searching. Booking is simple. It seems almost any and every vacation package qualifies for this bonus redemption rate – you just need to have a SkyMiles membership – and, of course, some SkyMiles in your account.
You typically get just 1 cent per SkyMile for these Delta Vacations bookings. And while it can sometimes make sense to go that route, this promotion makes it far, far better.

Our Analysis
We're big fans of using Delta SkyMiles, but there's no denying it can be difficult to squeeze outsized value from them given the airline's unpredictable and ever-changing award pricing. Getting 2 cents is a pretty good return if you're itching for a vacation.
One of the beauties of this promotion is that you don't have to pay for your entire trip in SkyMiles to get the doubled rate. Put as many – or as few – SkyMiles toward the price as you want and reduce the cost.
Better yet: Because you're using your SkyMiles like they were cash, you'll still earn SkyMiles for taking these flights!
So whether you're looking for a beach vacation or a quick weekend getaway with flights and hotel, this deal is worth exploring. You should still do the math to make sure you're coming out ahead with a package deal rather than booking separately.
But given how difficult it can be to get good value out of your SkyMiles, getting exactly 2 cents apiece – for double value – is worth strongly considering.
One Powerful Example
Here's another example of how lucrative this promotion can be. Looking at a weekend trip to California – rarely cheap – you could fly into San Diego (SAN) and spend two nights at the top-notch San Diego Andaz for a total of just 25,475 SkyMiles each.
Booking separately, you'd have to use up valuable World of Hyatt points or pay about $220 per night. And the exact same flights from the example above are 45,000 SkyMiles round trip each.
So you'd be saving almost $450 and 40,000 SkyMiles total by booking this package deal for two! That's an unreal deal.
Bottom Line
This is about as close to a slam dunk as there is for the case of booking a packaged vacation – especially with SkyMiles. Be sure to book today, Friday, Sept. 6, when this double-value promotion expires!
Something you can add is that multi-city can be booked over the phone, as well if you don’t need hotel your entire stay. The hotel stay minimums vary by destination. Off the top of my head I remember CONUS 2 nights, Europe 3 nights, Asia 4 nights. Hotels do not need to be consecutive or in the same city.
If I got 3 people going, can i just book a flight+hotel package for 1? then the other 2 can pay for just the flight and I just add them as guest?
This will likely depend on the specific property but I believe most of the Delta vacations deals require booking for 2.
