WOW air to Expand to JFK in April

WOW air has been busy expanding their route network over the last few months with Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Dallas, and St. Louis to begin service in April and May 2018. The expansion continues as WOW air just announced it’s second New York City route (already serving EWR) from JFK starting on April 26th. Tickets are on sale today.

The 2018 inaugural flight is as follows:
  • JFK on April 26, 2018

WOW air is an ultra low cost carrier so you will have fees for bags ($39 carry-on, $49 checked bag), seat assignment (starts at $9), as well as food (we recommend packing your own). Bring a book or movie as well because there is no seatback entertainment.

I flew WOW air last summer with no issues. I’d recommend checking in online and only doing carry-on. This will save you some coin and also time at check-in. Once you get to the gate make sure to speak with the gate attendant to get a tag for you carry-on. If you fail to get a bag tag they won’t let you board.

Bottom Line

With the addition of the new JFK route, WOW air is now matching both of Icelandair’s routes in the NYC metro. Competition is already fierce between these two carriers and I expect the price wars to continue.
