WOW air announces new Chicago service!
Today, WOW air announced that on July 14th it will begin services from Chicago‘s O‘Hare International Airport (ORD). For only $99 customers can travel nonstop to Iceland, and for $149 they can continue on to one of WOW‘s other 23 locations throughout Europe, such as Dublin, London, Paris, Frankfurt or Berlin. Tickets are on sale today.
WOW air is an ultra low cost carrier so you will have fees for bags ($39 carry-on, $49 checked bag), seat assignment, as well as food. As long as you understand the fees, this can be a cheap way to get to Iceland or Europe.
The new O’Hare route will be serviced by the Airbus A321-300, which benefits from a wider cabin, lower operating costs and improved fuel efficiency. Seat pitch will vary from 30 inches as standard to 34 inches at an additional charge.
I’ve yet to fly WOW air, so this morning I booked the inaugural flight from Chicago to Iceland on July 14th. It’s great to see that WOW air continues to expand their US service. This will increase competition and hopefully drive down prices in the Chicago market, which is good news for all travelers in the Midwest.
